When I did my boat, I bought a couple of wire brush attachments for my impact driver, put some Goof-Off on the glue, let it sit for about 20 seconds then went over it with the wire brush and finished the front deck in 15 minutes
@BassGeek4 жыл бұрын
The front deck wasn't really the issue, it was under the driver console. It was tacky. It was a 2 day deal. I had to use goof off and scrap it would just muck up wire brushes and sand paper just didn't work.

Looks great. I love my old Bullet. It’s now 24 years old. It’s been drinking for a while. Did mine myself. Bullet sells the carpet for its boats. The front deck is already cut and has finished edge. Hey all you needed to remove the carpet is 2 gallons of gasoline and a lowes spray bottle . Step 1 , remove all obstacles Step 2 , soak carpet let set for 2 to 3 minutes, then the carpet will just peel off. Step 3 , re spray after carpet is off to wipe excess glue residue. Then just place carpet mark and cut , clean surface and glue then let tack . Lay carpet and smooth out . The end

Just a my opinion, I restore these bass boats for a living, I do about 2 to 3 carpet jobs a week by myself, I have found over the years that it is actually a waste of time to go as far as you guys did, as long as you use a sharp scraper or sander and knock off the top layer and smooth it up, what is left on the boat is not going to effect the glue sticking. Start to finish on tearing down and prepping a boat for carpet takes me about 3hours mainly because of that, because if it is stuck on good enough where you need a solvent to get it off then it wasn’t coming off for awhile lol

Nice job on the carpet. But like you say, the number one suggestion to YOU is: use the tripod more! PLEASE avoid hand held video! On more than one occasion I was dizzy to the point of being sick! Stop swatting flies with the camera!

I´m replacing the carpet in my nitro z7 2008. The hatches has round corners and it´s breaking my brain....
@BassGeek5 жыл бұрын
OH man. I don't even know. That makes my head hurt.
@paintballerj55755 жыл бұрын
Basically you cut them the same way he did, where you cut a 90 degree angle towards the corner but instead of going all the way to the corner, you stop about 3/8 of an inch from the corner, that allows you plenty to go around the corner and butt the carpet ends together.

Bout to do my 95 Stratos. Looks great! Here’s one thing I found by accident. The best oxidation remover, and trust me I’ve tried plenty, but Mother’s Aluminum Mag Wheel Polish is unbelievable. If you use a buffer, use a foam pad at low rpms. You can actually put it on a microfiber and rub it to a shine! No thanks needed! Now I’m wandering how much someone will charge me to do this. 🥵lol
@BassGeek4 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the tip. I don't know on the charge. Good luck and thanks for watching.

Looks great! Any picks of installing the Comfortroll?
@BassGeek7 жыл бұрын
Sorry I didn't. I will tell you it was really as easy as marking where I wanted it and cutting a hole. Just be sure on your boat there's no structural supports in the way and you're good to go.
@mikeaubu547 жыл бұрын
BassGeek Thanks, I have a TR186, I think I will have to remove an inch or so of the stringer. Will find out.

Has anyone ever tried Isopropyl alcohol for removing the old glue?
@BassGeek2 жыл бұрын
I hadn't.

An oscillating tool makes light work of old glue on aluminum!
@BassGeek6 жыл бұрын
She had a oscillating sander. Is that what you mean?

I really appreciate the video. It is very clear and precise. However, I have to agree, you skipped over some very important steps as you got farther along in your project. Understandably, it was a long and tedious project and I’m sure you were trying to finish. Thank you for all you shared.
@BassGeek5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yeah I did skip some things I just had limited time and getting the work done was more important than filming. hahaha However if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Scott Haynes It’s the only one I’ve ever done it’s holding up great not a single issue yet. Just take ya time. Sorry there was a lot more I wanted to put into it but balancing the work and the filming was tough. Hahaha

Screw the tuperware. You take a lid apart put that shit in the hole the lid was covering. Use the right glue and ditch the clamps. 12 lids, 2 hours to carpet, no clamps needed.
@BassGeek5 жыл бұрын
Well this was my first time putting carpet on. This was the glue recommended. It's held up great and I treat my boat like shit. lol
