Bass Cover Silent Wings of Freedom. YES.

Bass Cover d’un morceau épique « Silent Wings of Freedom » du Groupe Yes, album Tormato. Un des thèmes les plus acrobatiques pour la basse, comme c’est souvent le cas avec Chris Squire. Le morceau est d’ailleurs construit autour de la basse. Squire est là à son summum et pour les connaisseurs, les influences ne sont pas sans rappeler des bassistes de jazz-rock tels Stanley Clark et on sent les « marquages » de la basse « Zeuhl » propre à Magma dans les percussions et « vagissements » divers. C’est absolument génial, mais extrêmement technique et hyper dynamique. Dommage, le morceau est mal produit, le mixage bâclé, et l’ensemble s’en ressent, car trop brouillon. Difficile de distinguer certaines notes dans tout ce bordel et je passe parfois « à côté ». Une version fretlless est en préparation, pour qui aime le sport.

The song is, at his beginning, built around the bass. Squire is here at his peak and for connoisseurs, the influences are reminiscent of jazz-rock bassists such as Stanley Clark and we feel the “marks” of the “Zeuhl” bass style specific to Magma in the percussion and “wails” miscellaneous. It’s absolutely brilliant, but extremely technical and hyper dynamic. Too bad, the song is poorly produced, the mixing is sloppy, and the whole thing suffers because it's too messy. It's difficult to distinguish certain notes in all this mess and I sometimes missed it. A fretless version is in preparation, for those who like sport.
