I love the line. I have the glx, nrx, and conquest line. To this day, the nrx is topps for me. I just wish they would bring back the 6’8” heavy in their lineups. So depressing that its gone.

Great review! I started out with a 854c just to try the nrx out. Like you I was always a middle of the road type guy too but..... Now I have the 852,803,853,854,873,894 casting and 821nrr and 872 spinning nrx. Also a glx spinning and a gl2 Swim bait casting rod. I went overboard replacing my arsenal, lol. I use dobyns, falcon and others for moving bait lures because I don't see a need for that sensitive of a rod for those. I do mostly have middle of the road reels though except for one alderbaren. I think I prefer daiwa to Shimanos though. Really wanting to try the zillion. Still like my lews too.

I own several st.croix legand extremes so spending 600+ on a rod is not a problem. I own many older gloomis rods and they are way better than the shimano mass produced loomis rods of today. I started buying edge rods. And they are great. If you want an actual g loomis rod buy an edge

These rods are still my go-to, man…NRX and Conquest for all things jig and plastic. I still prefer the st croix 68mxf legend x for flukes and 68mxf victory for jerkbaits, etc. The NRX just feels like overkill for reaction baits. I’ll tell you this much…anyone who doesn’t wanna drop $500 for an NRX, the St Croix Victory line is PHENOMENAL. They compete with my NRXs all day in terms of weight, balance and comfort. They’re not as sensitive but who cares…for $200, they’re the best value I’ve found on the market, personally. My brother sees no need to upgrade his and he often fishes with my conquests, etc. when we’re out on the boat. They’re really, really good.
