He’s spot on with holiday makers - as a carp angler I had a 11.5 lb Bass just up from Chesil whilst on hols - used a whole fresh pouting. He’s correct again with inspection - that fish twitched the rod tip several times before belting off. I still can’t believe it really - my first Bass and over 11; that’s fishing for you - anyone can get lucky 😁

We don't tend to Pike fish this time of year as we like to give them a rest. We are an all-round fishing show so we just go onto Trout fishing/Sea fishing and a bit of carp fishing until the river season opens again in June

for rough ground fishing in cornwall I cast 'spoon leads' in an old desert spoon, these tend to sail up on retrieve.

I agree on intitially tentative bites when using crab. I find the same. I’ve hit very soft tentative bites when fishing crab, and hooked into 7-9 pounders.

No plans for anything down that way as we are doing rock fishing and trout at moment. But let us know when you think there's a good chance, might take a run down again.

Assuming its a commercial carp fishery/day ticket I would use red maggots over groundbait with a feeder.Water is still cold and they may not want to move much.As soon as the sun is out and the water warms I would go for bigger baits like lobworms,meat or breadflake.

My biggest is 12 and a quarter, a tad under the quarter, caught on a shore mark but from close in boat drifting the mark.

You can get something cheap for that price, but I don't think you'll get much of a rod. I only use Conoflex for my beach fishing. I suggest looking them up on Google and check out what they have. Then get a cheaper fixed spool reel, but its the rod that needs to be halfway decent. I guess the old Conoflex 2400 might be a good start, if they still make them.

Just bought a rod , first time fishing and catches better than your PB which is a real good size . Seen it many times , thing is they never realise how lucky they are and don’t fish again.

Could you guys give me some tips for keeping crabs of my bait when I'm fishing for bass, flatfish and dogfish from the beach over rough ground please. All me and my dad seem to catch are crabs and the odd dab.
@harryrambo22238 жыл бұрын
You either need to pop up your bait off the bottom, or just accept a bait isnt going to last more than 15 minutes. When the fish come on the feed, the crabs tend to disappear a little

For rock fishing you don't want a breakaway lead, you need a heavy flat edged weight, no roll at all

for close rock fishing use not more than 100 gram lead.
@Noname-qk9or7 жыл бұрын
not neccaserily mate, if you are fishing on the ebb tide, you will need at least 6ozs of lead, maybe even 7.

Has tony not heard of treble hooks. And nothing special what so ever about a pulley rig!
@TAFishing2 жыл бұрын
That's probably why many hundreds of anglers use a pulley rig when fishing rough ground ?
