Probably my last day fishing for bass this year and what a day. The weather was fantastic and the fishing wasn't bad either- we fished shallow reefs and deep water marks with lots of tidal pull.
Top water, Fiiish Black Minnows and shallow divers all caught fish with a nice bass to finish off the day. Got to love uk bass fishing!

As an American on the east coast it surprises me how you have a lot of similar, if not the same, species as us. The bass you catch over on your side of the pond look similar in body structure and are even targeted in similar ways. The only real difference is the size. A starting point for a Striped Bass to be considered large is 40lbs and anything over 50 is exceptional (once in a lifetime fish).
@SlippyLimpets
@SlippyLimpets 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah they're almost identical, we often copy your techniques. 40lb would be amazing! The UK record is about 21lb so we're a long way off you!!
@raymondthompson2908
@raymondthompson2908 2 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't be too surprising that share species, or variations of, as it is the same pond; The Atlantic, that is. And some fish do get around a bit. Eels, for instance, both European and American freshwater eels, all leave home and swim to the Sargasso to spawn, and then back again (I think): the elvers do for sure (personally I wish they'd stay there, but... hey ho!). So, that's my little contribution, and I'll just sit tight now for someone tell me that's all wrong, but.. hey ho, again. Anyway old sport, great video as always and keep 'em coming. Regards. I normally travel to go bass fishing but have ran out of holiday at work so have to fish closer to home. I've landed a good few bass in our area in winter but always on bait. They're an old pair of Scarpa running shoes. I took the lining out so they don't absorb any water and added some screw in studs. They're not cheap but have lasted 5 years so far!

@@SlippyLimpets I've had a few different pairs for wading . They looked less bulky. Was wondering if they were studded. Thanks 👍

That’s a great idea, I love my wading boots but they’re bulky. What studs did you go with?

I tried the Snowbee studs but they're useless, have since tried SupaTracks 1100 size and they work really, really well

Hey The slippy one, Do you mind me picking your brains about Rod Reel and general set up Not that I’m a novice, I’ve fished all my life BC bit of rock boat you the score, but one thing I’ve shy’d away from is plugging, spinning apart from the Mackerel in the summer A few tips, point my enormous nose in the right direction I’d be very grateful, if not no worries Keep on fishing

Hey Alan, it's really a personal choice but a 9ft rod coupled with a 2500 to 4000, depending on balance, is the the go-to set up. I like a 9tf rod with a 2500 sized real and anywhere between 12lb and 20lb braid. Hope this helps👍🎣

@@TheAlanfigg mix it up, I've got a 9ft Tailwalk High Tide L and a Daiwa BG Magsealed 2500 loaded with 12lb/0.6pe Tasline Elite. I use this real for rock, bass and kayak fishing
