That's funny. The first Long Range 22Long Rifle competition I completed in, I won the purse. Every match since there has been no purse. Lol. I guess when you roll up with a custom built rifle and spank em they imagine you don't need the money. Thing is, the only objects I spend dough on are my fishing, hunting, and working tools. I'm a thrifty SOB on groceries, clothes, etc.

Can you run both size hybrid hunters on the same size line..? Just try the bigger one yesterday afternoon and threw it on a medium 7'6" falcon rod .. 20 pound test didn't work at all .. what should I be throwing it on to keep the bait up and burning without constantly blowing out or trying to roll..? My buddy and I fished a tournament on Rayburn and ended up winning. We caught them deep cranking a 6XD and then went throwing a new Strike King Hybrid Hunter in the grass. We caught a bunch of big fish and won the event. However, now we are banned from fishing future events.

I was on Rayburn 3 years ago, and got on a crankbait like that. Every cast to the ledge with an Arashi Deep25. Must have caught 20+ fish out of the school. It was absolutely INSANE! Same conditions. Chilly, crazy foggy, and in February.

I apologize I've answered it 50 times in the comments section and had stopped responding. They put in rules after this event that made it ineligible for me to fish any of their future events. They put in a rule that no Pros were allowed to fish their upcoming events for the upcoming year. I'm not fishing pro events this year so the other rule states that if you fished any pro event in the past 12 months you aren't allowed to fish. This basically made me the only person that fishes their events ineligible. Hence the title we won and NOW WE"RE BANNED. Seems they made a rule that only applies to me.

Here’s the deal for years I spent days upon days fishing Rayburn and fishing tournaments on Rayburn sometimes 20 a year, then one day I started fishing the tour even though I had qualified every year for years. Was I any better the day before I started fishing the tour or the day after. When I fished the tour that year I had spent about 6 days on Rayburn as opposed to 75 days. As a competitor would you rather fish against a guy who fishes every weekend and crushes it or the guy who shows up without being on the lake for months because that’s what happened. I won a lot more tournaments on Rayburn when I was there full time rather than just showing up once or twice a year

I could see winning every match would be a thorn, but I would hope the fishing community talks , and shares their knowledge like other sports. Look man as a "Newbie" I just fished against the current US open champ, and his good friend from the MLF. I have no problem fishing against those guys. Its pretty cool to have them local and learn from the experience. I find it incredibly funny, that they are always the last boat to show up to registration, and are the last boat to put in... While the rest of the field is already floating. Mike the "IKE says it best. I'm not worried about the other guys. I am worried about what I have to do to catch'em. I also try to be respectful of their space. They are there just like I am, To have fun and stay sharp, or get better. Cool to have you guys around. And don't mind fishing against you all.

They shouldn’t ban you. We fish a local tourney circuit in Az and it’s open to whoever wants to fish…ya we get our butts kicked once in a while but one tourney we beat a MLF pro and cashed a check. I like fishing against em cause you find out what you are made of. Did you beat em, hang with em, or get blown out.. the key is as long as they are cool then everybody wins IMO. After we won our second in a row they made a new rule that they thought would affect me and not let me gosh. They found out later that it did not apply to me so they came up with another rule that only applied to me. Essentially it prevented me from fishing.

That lower part of the gill flap is one of the toughest places to unhook a lure. Caught a 25 incher (7 or 8lbs) with one hook on a Zara Puppy sunk deep in it's jawbone. If that fish is still alive, part of that hook is probably still there.

The only reason i can think of is Pro fishermen have access to alot more money, better equipment and other things. after all local tourneys only try to keep things fair and inexpensive. So when you have the big boys come in then the fair playing field goes away. Also they dont give enough info to make a fair judgement of exactly why they were banned if in fact they actually were! So until I have all the facts then I say fish on! no malice and no judgement from me.

That’s just crap. I’ve seen that happen before with bass clubs around here. Usually comes down to one guy thinks he is really good and wins 70% of his clubs tournaments gets smoked buy some really good “ pro” from LOZ that wanted to fish a local tournament for fun. So they ban pros or guys who have fished a pro event. While I don’t fish events I feel like there is a lot to be learned from people that compete and win on a higher level.

@Gregory Smith Why? He's a product tester for Strike King. He was testing future product. It's not like he got the fish out of a cage or off a stringer tied to some tree (I'm looking at you Mike Long). Sure no one else has it, but I have a feeling Todd and his partner worked their butts off to find these fish and that's why they caught them.
