Bass Fishing With a Strike King RAGE Bug - Beginner Friendly Texas Rig

Today I am out bass fishing with a Strike King Rage Bug. This lure is beginner friendly and fished on a Texas Rig. The Rage Tail series of lures are great for fishing on Texas Rigs. I like fishing them in the weeds, and dragging them along the bottom. I catch a total of four largemouth bass in a variety of sizes. The smaller bass weighed aprox 3/4 lb and the larger bass were closer to two pounds. I fish these rigs on a baitcaster with 12 lb mono, but you can fish them on almost any setup. If you have and Rage Bugs sitting around, it might be a good time to try them out on a Texas Rig. #bassfishing

We had some good rain in Houston as well! (I’m not from here nor living here, just passing through on a road trip) Lots of rain and crazy thunderstorms. A bolt of lightning lit my entire hotel room bright as day, when I checked the weather it had a red dot next to Friday night which I imagine is not good, it said “severe thunder strikes in your area, last strike 11 minutes ago 0.0 miles from you”. Well that leaves only one spot, MYSELF.

I don’t have much luck on a texas rig... I was thinking maybe coz there isn’t a lot of structure where I’m fishing ( big rocks, mud bottom in very strain/muddy water) maybe I’m not giving it enough time. Once I switch to drop shot I get hits. I will stay committed to it, your channel helps a ton. Thanks Alex

Tried a Ned Rig today for the first time. Was not able to fish much, guiding friends. Still I got 3 bass in the 1/2 to 1 1/2 range. Will be adding the Ned Rig to my fishing techniques. 😉🤠👵🎣🚣🏿‍♀️ I have never had any luck with creature baits. Thanks for the video, Alex. Will be working with creature baits next. I'm set up for the crawfish style Is soft baits. I've always used worms , especially Culprit worms. I'm going to fish with the crawfish style baits until I learn how to use them. I've been trying Ned Rigs lately and have done fairly well with them. Trying lots of new stuff.

Fishing has been horrendous this year. I can't recall a year being so bad. Weeds came out faster/earlier than I've ever seen and it just seems like less overall fish around. I don't even see signs of nearly as many as the last few years and it's not just 1 area either. So I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through you and your catches until it (hopefully) gets better haha.

The 3/16 oz. is my go to weight. It amazes me the 1/16 oz., up or down can really make a difference. The 1/8 oz. Isn't quite heavy enough to cast well and the 1/4 oz. Is often too heavy to work the bait the way you want to.
