Nice review, etc. I just got one quite recently and it's a little bit different. On mine both pots are 500K and the volume is linear and tone is audio. You didn't remove the pickups. They are single coil and on mine (and others I've heard if not all) both pickups are Bridge pickups; both the same. Playing mine at full volume the output is too hot and I have to back off the volume a bit. Maybe that's why the linear volume. I haven't gotten around to adjusting the pickup heights yet which might address that issue. All in all it's quite nice... fit and finish are impressive. I agree with all your comments. You didn't mention the output jack. Very weak. Plug comes right out with any kind of a tug. That's the one thing that really needs replacing. I'm making some changes to mine. First copper foil all around. It's actually not noisy at all but always a good idea for single coil. The pickups themselves are pretty well enclosed. The metal tops are well soldered to the pickup base. Shielding those cavities is not critical but I'm doing those cavities as well while I'm at it. The pickup leads are one positive lead and a ground shield. Cable could be heavier gauge but okay enough. I'm replacing the pots. Nothing wrong with the originals and soldering work was quite clean and good but I'm replacing with two dual concentric CTS pots I had laying around. Those are 500/250K concentric pots. I'll be using 250K for volume and 500k for tone. That will give me a vol/tone for each pickup which should be a great improvement. That keeps the original two knob configuration. That will be it for now but still plenty of real estate for plenty many more switches and gadgets. Thanks for the videos !

I’m glad you’re on KZbin. I’ve got this Gretsch G2220. It worked great for a year then…… 1st the input Jack almost fell out a couple times. Then the 3 way toggle switch started buzzing, It would work at the neck pickup and then quit I’m using a new cable and a( brand new fender v500 combo ) then volume would drop out. How do I shield this properly like you said. Any idea what’s going on ?
