Feel free to do it every year. I won't get tired of seeing you jam a range of basses.

If there's enough changes year by year, I'm down!
@funkingitup1805Ай бұрын
@patrickhunter Here's a couple other ideas for annual gear fest even if there aren't many changes. 1.) Extended jams (I know the algorithm won't reward that, but we will like it) 2.) Play them all in a style (slap them all, how are harmonics on all of them, play funk fingers on all of them, have fun etc. 3.) Bust out the scale (what's the weight), how's the neck dive. Thanks for the content, man.

Always love these rundowns, it makes me feel much more comfortable with being a sound engineer and bassist that's just starting out, the way you do these videos makes it feel like I can definetly achieve to make a studio as pretty and well set up as this if I push myself enough.

I had to save this video and come back and finish it today. Man, you have one killer collection that has inspired mine. At the beginning of the year I sold my house and moved into a retirement community. I let about 6 custom bass go to downsize, and then went out and bought a more diverse collection. You might even have inspired me to work on using a pick! Awesome videos, again, killer basses.

Can highly recommend having at least one bass tuned to BEAD. I have a 4 string bass with 65-80-100-130 gauge strings for heavier music. I had to file down the nut and bridge to fit the heavier gauge strings.

Ibanez should make the ATK series with reduced weight and a 35"scale
@zulu5157Ай бұрын
I sign your suggestion. I have the Gio series ATK Ibamez with a Rockinger MM Pick -Up. It is so lite and I still have that "ATK Feeling". Thats the reason why I sold my japanese ATK. It was much to heavy. The tone from that ATK is / was brillant and the modified Gio ATK can not replace the tone. Some people call the ATK the stingray killer. I would say it is a Killer Bass. Also for your back.

The Squier 40th P-bass in LPB has been my main gigging bass for a couple of years. Purchased for a bargain price in a Cyber week sale, and with the money saved I replaced all the gold hardware with nickel which I'm much happier with (Threaded saddle bridge, and Gotoh Res-O-Lite machine heads). Earlier in the year I bought a Dimarzio 60s P pickup to replace the stock one, but still haven't gotten around to doing that. I guess it sounds fine as it is.

I have the same Squier 40th anniversary P bass. Loved the sound and feel. Swapped the Pup out for a Demarzio Relentless P and it didn’t do it right for me. I was so enamored with upgrading the pickup, I took the bass in the wrong direction. Getting the stock pickup swapped out asap

Cool video, lot of rad stuff. The Element is the only digital amp/cab thing I own, it sounds so good. They just need to add a compressor and it would be a complete self contained rig. I use the SWR cab b/c my favorite bass player, Joe Principe (Rise Against) use to use it when he played in 88 Fingers Louie. I also put a Bass Driver DI in front of it for grit.

hey man, ever since Cort released the Artisan Space 5, your video is one of the reviews I saw that really influenced my buying decision. As for your gripe with the Bartolini MK1 pickups, I felt the same way too, but I found that setting the pickup height much higher (around 2.4mm) brings out more clarity and punchiness. I'm very happy with the Artisan Space 5 nonetheless. If ever I am going to change the pickups, i might swap it out to the Nordstrand big singles.

Hi Patrick, I subscribed to your channel since your Marmozetz cover. Its been years and I love your content, but most of all the music you play to showcase the basses. Two questions: The music you play is written by you? Did you take lessons or how did you learn bass? I guess those are questions you've never answered. I would like to know

ask dingwall about a 37" scale replacement neck
@funkingitup1805Ай бұрын
@TacticalHyena Huh? They don't even make a 4-string with a 37" scale, right? The NG2-4 ge has already has a 36.25" scale on the lowest string. That's already much longer then the B on most 5-strings.

What happened with your Chickenbacker? Did You sell it? To be honest, that bass didn't sound bad at all.
@patrickhunterАй бұрын
Sold it, def wasn't a fan. The Harley Benton RB-414 is a much MUCH better option overall imo, the playability and workmanship was leagues above that Chickenbacker. The only thing a chickenbacker has going for it is the aesthetics, and trust me that's only from far away lol

I'm sure you've been told this before, but I love the stuff you play in these demos. I get so tired of hearing demos with uncreative pentatonic jamming or generic metal riffs. You throw in a lot of unexpected note choices that show off your writing chops.
