Yeah, this is the one where I listened to the song about 1000 times before I was able to break my concentration away from the bass and guitar conversation to notice that Akane was holding another great conversation in the background and killing it with one of the best drum accompaniments in the history of hitting things with sticks.

This "conversation" is probably my favorite of anything they've done. It is so good! Also, I can't praise Akande enough for her brilliant background drumming. The heartbeat she adds fits so perfectly with what Misa and Kanami are doing.

When you recognized the third voice in the "conversation" you literally won the internet in my heart. Akane's contribution is priceless and her foundation is what makes MISA and Kanami shine. This was (and still is) a defining moment for maidiacs and one that we all have a special place in our heart. It never gets old, I'm glad you were able to find it.

I always thought that the call and response part feels like flirtation, the chemistry is so intense. Akane's drum poundimg heavily like heartbeat is definitely contributing to it.

Yes, the conversation between the bass and guitar. I like the cool part in which Misa signals to the crowd on the bass. The lyrics are like the beginning of a romance, or a love affair, but if you have to keep it a secret, the tone is dark and never cheerful, so is it a wrong kind of love again..? or...

Wow you found the 2018 live version. I thought Toy Factory deleted it off youtube. I watch the mix of 17,18,20 version to specifically see Kanami, Misa, and dont forget Akane all playing wonderfully together. You might have noticed Saiki is singing in a higher pitch and tone than she normally does. I believe this is the same year she had throat surgery. I dont know if this is before or after the surgery. I could be wrong

Has anybody else ever noticed that Japan bands have the audience chant "Wa" during participation, not "Hey" ?..But audiences outside Japan say "Hey".. I've seen Saiki several times try to get the audience to say "Wa" but to no avail, she just laughs, then gives up. I've seen Mayu do the same.. Watch Lovebites, Nemophila. and Band Maid live in Japan, and you'll see what I mean..

From a fan view point, there are lots more the management could do. But, Prime does have great content. BTW, I think this vids relative scarcity has elevated it to mythic status. Same with Take Me Higher live, and Freedom live where Saiki gets lost in the crowd.

This version of the song is a knock-out! Lead guitar vs. second lead guitar (or, occasionally, rhythm guitar) call (play)-and-responds are not all that uncommon, but doing it with the lead guitar, and the bass is -- if not rare -- at least unusual. However, if your lead guitarist is Kanami, and your bassist is Misa....

Best BAND-MAID ever! I understand why they took it down, but, unfortunately it got replaced by a bunch FanCam garbage. I guess some people like that stuff. But this was back when Kanami's guitar had Tone, and not from a pedal either. Like I said, some people like that. And sure, Octavers have their place. But it should never become the default. It would be like Peter Frampton using Voice Box in every song. Never over use effects. Nothing beats pure Guitar & Amp Tone! Even the Backing Tracks are perfection here. Kanami's Keyboard sits perfectly in the mix and Akane's Gong accentuated the end of the choruses giving it a crescendo. Perfection!

No disrespect to Saki and Miku at all because I love and adore them, but I could listen to Akane, MISA, and Mincho all day. MISA's tone is still my favorite bass tone from anyone aside from Geddy Lee and Chris Squire.
