An enraged man bellowing impotently at a raging tumultuous night sky. . . that it the mental picture that I have whenever I hear Bassem speak. He leaves me with a tight throat and tears in my eyes every time. It’s obvious to anyone with a soul to know that it’s inhumane to treat any people the way the Palestinians have been done. I’d argue that it’s equally inhumane to be a person trying to bring their story to the public and to be faced with the reality that the world is quite full of people who could make a difference, could intercede, could influence the aggressors but simply decide not to because there’s no benefit for them or it’s not expedient. That, to me, is perhaps a greater type of torture than a genocide - a drawn out torture of the heart and soul versus the swift death of the physical body.

"We’ll never achieve true justice in a world controlled by powerful, ruthless forces. There’s one law for the poor and another for the powerful. We must stand together to hold them accountable. This is why, for eight decades, Palestinians have seen little justice."

The two of you are a blessing for the general cause of making humanity a little bit less cruel. Thank you. It's hard. But we beg of you to find it within to keep on going.

No, Bassem! I don't want to see you despair like that! You've inspired millions of people to speak up and make a change. You helped spread the truth and were a voice to those who didn't have any voice. Please don't undervalue your role in this and the impact you had on the world. I understand you're tired and feel like nothing is changing but as long as there are people like you and me, who fight for what's right, this world will change for the better. I hope you see this comment.

With all respects, when Bassem says it doesn't matter who wins or loses, it does matter because things are about to get infinitely worse for a lot more people. The history of marginalized people in America shows that you have to keep fighting for what is right. People have endured worse conditions and they endured, survived, and overcame.

Unionists and black people survived literally being bombed from the sky about 100 years ago. We can overcome even this.

Hi, I am not from the US. Egyptian like Bassem actually, and I don't think he disagrees with you in that, more so he's saying that without dealing with the core problem of Zionist and Billionare influence in the US political system, all other attempts to seek justice may be futile in the long run because the problem is still there and it gets stronger faster and faster, it's the same system on both sides, but I do understand your frustration of course, I hope you and all people who may be affected by this change the best
@MrElectrofied12 күн бұрын
yes exactly. u and i and most ppl survived and overcame the first trump presidency. when u say “infinitely” worse for a “lot” more ppl, don’t get it twisted ur still eating and have a roof over ur head. ppl are getting bombed and ran out their homes at the hands of america, and for those who are connected to that misery, it truly doesn’t matter who wins or loses. also, u giving that lil condescending, “people overcome” is ironic when palestine is on the verge of extinction and ur having to deal w a presidency, ur not in the same level of consideration whatsoever

@ I was speaking about Palestine and things getting worse under Trump.
@zionfreebird654910 күн бұрын
@ oh and it was better in biden times than the previous trump era ??? The basic thing is if american governments were doing it merely for the diplomatic advantage of America that could have been better because you can make them change their stance of supporting the Jew oppressions by offering another diplomatic benefits. THE MAERICAN GOVERNMENTS ARE SUPPORTING ISRAEL BECAUSE OF THE JEW BILLIONERS AND THEIR INSTITUTIONS IN THE US, ARMTWISTING THE LEADERS !!!!! NO AMERICAN PRESIDENT CAN SURVIVE A FULL TERM AFTER STOPING AIDING ISRAEL JUST FOR ECONIC REASONS AND AMERICANS BENEFIT !!! this I can assure you !!

It’s disheartening to view things this way, but when we take a broader perspective, I feel hopeful seeing how the resistance is making a significant impact on the enemy, who’s facing major setbacks. The victory is in our hands alone-what was taken by force can only be reclaimed by force. We are resilient and capable, so let’s focus on what we can accomplish ourselves. I love you all; keep pushing forward. Thank you.

Given our Electoral College that's an incredible challenge. However, a hostile --but not hostile-- takeover over of the Democratic Party May be possible. We already have some steady progressive voices, AOC, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and more, who don't take AIPAC money and push for human rights. We need to elect more people like them, and create grassroots organizations to overcome the cynical exploitation of the donor class, Wall Street and warmongers. We need to be in this for the long haul, as civil rights advocates understand all to well. Even before this election, I could see how things were going, working people, those believing in human rights versus the moneyed elite who've been aligning with fashy extremists that also live for control. Based on my learning of history, seeing that we had made significant progress since the days of Jim Crow, etc, I did not expect that people would support the party that wants to re-subjugate many of us. Yet, here we are. However, if we come together, organize, plan, act, resist, we can at least be a nemesis to their hateful agenda. For now, that's all I've got, but I'm channeling my spirit animal. #CivilDisobedienceCat🐈⬛🐾

Thank you for bringing up Lebanon, Mehdi. Much as the atrocities in Gaza are beyond horrific (today alone my heart broke listening about the boy sleeping on his mother's grave near Gaza City and the two children starved to death found by a reporter Anas Al Sharif and the 3yo mauled by a military dog), the toll in Lebanon is equally horrific. It's been 13 months of the most tragic horror and so many of us are powerless to effect proper action. Please continue highlighting the horrors, inequities, imbalances, power plays, Machiavellian parties and schemes. Please don't ever stop talking about the oppression, no matter how dark it seems. Godspeed, Mehdi. May God bless you for keeping awareness constant.
