Well I am biased obviously but my pawrents love me as I am so chilled, happy natured and loving. We artesian normands just make lovely lovely pets 🐶❤️

My first dog after moving to France many years ago was a Basset Artésien Normand named Mortimer. The breeder told us he was half show dog and half hunter. He proved to be a hunter and luckily my father in law was a hunter (personally I'm against this "sport"). Anyway, a quick anecdote : apparently one weekend, Mortimer saw a big fat pheasant sitting on a tree and before my father in law could shoot it, he gave a huge bark (they have very loud barks), and the pheasant fell from the tree, heart attack apparently !!!!

SO many similarities to the Dachshund, honestly. I believe it looks between a Dachshund and a Basset, because it shares more recent ancestry with the Basset, but they lack the Bloodhound ancestry that Bassets have... Similar to Dachshunds. It is believed that Dachshunds were partially bred from a proto-basset.
