We have 6 plug-ins that spray ever 20 minutes and go through 2 cans of air freshener a week as well as a number of other solid block ones. All for the least smelliest basset I've ever had.

We had Bassets for nearly 20 years. Love them but my family decided I needed a more active companion when I retired. My Roxie was my copilot for 16 years and when she passed I was inconsolable. The breed is nothing if not lovable.

I adopted my second basset hound last year. He is 6 years old this month. Absolutely no regrets. He has bad seasonal allergies, I control it now with CYTOPOINT. It's completely changed his well being for better. Great breed. Drools a lot. Sheeds a lot. Apart from that, fastastic companion!

Speed when; Being asked to get off the bed (-7), going on a walk with lot's of scents (1 needs to sniff Everything!! ) seeing a bunny and tracking ( 7) hearing and getting to the sound of the 'fridge opening ( 20)

We have had 4 Basset Hounds and We now have Our 5th. Usually we have 2 of them of at time so they have a soul/ friend. Our last one right now is gonna be 4 Years Old on August 11th. We do not have a playmate for her because the Breeder that We Used for ALL OUR BASSET HOUND GIRLS is not responding to calls so do to the Pandemic we don’t know what we will do. We are in Central Illinois and I am Disabled and so our money is watched closely. Our Breeder breed Basset Hounds for family pets NOT SHOW DOGS. We can’t afford 1,000 for a female Basset Hound Puppy. We WILL LOVE BASSET HOUNDS DEARLY!!!!!

My basset is now nine. He is 80 pounds since age two.My basset is GREAT in cold weather! DEfinatley stinky. Needs a bath tomorrow. Has food and environmental allergies, Diabetes Incipidus ( look it up.. it's NOT sugar diabetes ), Cushings, a growth in his spleen, enlarged adrenal gland, and TONS of warts. Currently on a MOUNTAIN of supplements! Raw feeding since age TWO! I would say that "wanderlust" should be much, much higher! Almost an 8 or 9. I've heard so many stories of Bassets getting lose and traveling miles and miles by their noses! Being reported of being in other townships. Other times.. I'm out walking my basset and he is on a Flexi lead. He wanders up to someones steps.. turns and looks at me like "I'm good, I'll go in here. Bye". Hounds have LOTS of "wanderlust". I have a dog park friend with a Coonhound. He has a GPS tracker on him. He gets out and TRAVELS! EDIT.. sorry.. didn't realize that a "ZERO" score for wanderlust meant HIGH.

We had Bassets growing up, and I’ve had one most of my adult life. Love this breed, they’re such laid back and even tempered dogs with big personalities. They can get a little more stubborn with age, but then so do I.

Awesome dogs definitely hard to train though. I know when I had one I couldn't train him because he was pretty stubborn. But I still loved him and still do even though he passed away at age of like 13. But such a loving dog, I remember when some dogs came to attack him he didn't do anything but try to sniff them. Bassett hounds truly are friendly, but I had to pretty much scare off the mean dogs myself. But yeah, also lots of slobber and shedding, and they might have allergies, I know mine did.

We are currently trying to fill the hole in our hearts when my mom was walking our sweet boxer last month, and he was hit by a car. He was 5 years old. I believe that a hole can be fixed with such an adorable dog after such a tragedy. It's always great to give a dog the best life as possible so when they pass away, you can reflect on the amazing times you had with it!

@@fusionvision7013 I've lost both a basset and a boxer - both utterly destroyed me but I lasted 14 years after my boxer dog Tyson died before getting another dog, I managed only 1 month without a basset in my life when my lovely basset Jack left us this year. Now we have Oscar or rather he owns me. I love it!

I've been really debating if I should get another dog but I also kind of don't want to because I feel like Dexter was the only dog for me.

I just got my first Basset, Lady Sahrena Wubbles has joined my little family. I’ve always wanted a Basset but only if it came into my life, I don’t know why that was important but 2 days ago it happened. So many things had to come together so perfectly for her to find me I couldn’t say no. I made her name, Sahrena from Serendipity because that truly describes why she’s with me. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me but I know it will be done with a smile because I have this goof ball who’s made me laugh more in the last two days than I have all year, you know, because it’s freaking 2020! 😖😂😷✌️

Amazing breed, but not a dog for the vast majority of people. They do require significant maintenance. One major issue, they literally have more character the average person, losing one is incredible tough, I've had 5 dogs, Floyd (the basset) was my last, he was like a brother. if you decide to bring one into your life, please get one form a local rescue/shelter. most are already trained (which can be challenging with this breed, not that their dumb, COMPLETE opposite actually. they are so full of personality and they know it) and they will have been spayed/nurtured plus given their shots.

Love Basset Hounds! My Coraline had to be put down on Aug. 15, 2020 due to cancer. She was a beautiful girl, she was 9 years, 8 months old. She now resides in my heart and good memories.❤️💞

For those who are thinking about getting a basset hound, don’t expect them to go on long walks or hikes. They start out great on the walk and then slow down sum what quickly... and sometimes lie down abruptly. Then you’ll learn a new phrase, “bass-a-tude”.

My first Basset was so friendly that she would try to get into strangers' cars, and would play with any dog at the park. My current Basset is afraid of her own shadow. Even with the family next door, who come to visit her almost daily. Go figure.

@@_abby_ukes_2.080 i have had 3 alot of the smell has to do with the dogs diet but they can be prone to yeast infections in their ears so you have to watch out for that, none of mine are droolers

My family just got a bassist mix I am very very unhappy I didn’t want a dog that’s incapable of moving around. I had a wonderful chewini she was the best dog every friendly smart adorable couldn’t go anywhere without people stopping us she loved cats she loved kids she loved everyone she lived to be 15. I’ve heard bassist hounds are very unhealthy and bark constantly maybe I’m hating tell me I’m wrong please
