The most common thing in bass fishing is anglers in every level try to get as much information as they can to put themselves over the edge in tough and pressured conditions. A great angler can go fishing with a open mind with no information to figure out how to find and catch bass no matter how tough it is. 🤙

Depends on what you mean by "information"- if you're referring to specific information about a specific body of water- I agree. If you're referring to general information about fishing- I couldn't disagree more. Great anglers are great because of the information they have stored in that noggin from all that experience on the water. That said- it sure doesn't hurt if you know the lake from your own experience. Doesn't do much good to have ppl tell you about it- but if you've been out there gathering it yourself- that's a different story.

I completely agree about looking for less pressured areas to fish. With all the big tournaments we've been having on Lake Hartwell recently, sometimes it seems like every obvious point, ditch, and hump is covered with a boat for miles. I've started looking at contour maps specifically for areas that look boring or places I think most folks wouldn't bother with. Might not catch anything on lots of those spots, but at least I'm trying something new and learning - plus it's more relaxing to fish where you're not being crowded all the time.

I am very familiar with that study about Toledo Bend and what it suggested about fish movements was really eye opening! I know on my local lakes that those fish do indeed move away from fishing pressure. Fortunately I have a little plastic boat that floats in 4 inches of water so I can go after those bass hiding in the toughest to reach places! Also - Go Matt!!! Congrats on the win buddy!

My hometown lake here in southern ky gets hammered with fishing pressure. At least 3 tournaments a week, plus all the weekend anglers. Its not a big lake either. It is a highland reservoir style lake. Its called barren river lake. Im going to go in a few hours and try some flats and see if it works. All the obvious points havent been working lately either, so maybe the flats is where they are. Thanks for the tip!

@BassFishingDeclassified
@BassFishingDeclassified Жыл бұрын
Are you fishing from the bank or boat? I would recommend if you are trying to fish offshore in a boat without a fish finder, try to read the bank structure from the parts of the bank that are out of the water nearby. I would have a deep diving crankbait on and a jig to fish offshore. The crankbait is the search bait. The jig is the mop up bait - Jimi

Boat fishing? Troll, troll,troll! Best way to find fish/structure without a fish finder. Use a series of crankbaits that run various depths until you find the fish. This tells you both location and depth of the fish.

Say what you want but I believe bass are too over fished too much pressure on them overall they are living creatures and experience stress so I try not to fish lakes too intensely or aggressively

I have to be honest here. I think that fishing has become more like a job rather than a fun thing to do. I always thought it was cool how i could catch so many fish by hunting for them with my knowledge of fish but now fishing is not about hunting for fish it's more about finding them with help not everyone needs help electric components have ruined the fun that was once fishing same thing for hunting people relying on something to get a deer what does the word hunting mean i don't believe it is electronics. To each his own for me I to hunt using my senses for what I'm after. How many tournaments have been won without electronic devices a lot.

Yeah this is a good way to look at it, for me I love to figure out fish and catch them. We know it is not easy. The electronics have helped find new ways to catch fish and in new places. - Jimi
