I set the hook the other day and fell out of the boat. 57-degree water. I was in my partner's boat with no extra clothes. ALWAYS bring extra clothing in the colder months.

That is a great comment! This is overlooked for sure. Very scary. Sounds like everything turned out ok?

@@BassFishingDeclassified I'm still breathing, lol. Partner tried to pull me up into the boat but there was no way with all the clothes I had on. He literally dragged me 200' to the shoreline.

that is crazy computer guy!! i’m sure it’s something that you guys will look back on and laugh about over the years. Lol glad you are OK regardless. I had a friend in high school many years ago do the same thing, but it was in the summer, so it wasn’t too bad.

@@mikegardiner3934 LOL, we actually named the area "Ass Over Head" cove!! Bwahhaaaa. I definitely would have preferred this had happened in August. HA

Make sure you have strong well maintained boat batteries. Important in the winter because you might be the only boat on the water. I got stranded one time on a windy day. Trolling motor batteries were weak and would not start the engine after the cranking battery died. I finally got lucky and got ahold of a tow boat. Expensive $600. If not for that I would have spent a cold night on the water.

Good tip for sure! That is a costly tow….

I wear thermals, Carhartt bibs, double socks, wool watch cap (beanie), neck sock that covers my face, and gloves. And, yes, a towel and dry clothes in a plastic bag in the storage compartment. Always use the killswitch lanyard and have a boarding ladder easily accessible from the edge of the boat. 👍🇺🇸

All good stuff! I forgot the other day on attaching the killswitch to my life jacket out on Ouachita …Jimi

Temperature hot or cold is relative, what someone down south considers cold is comfortable to a northerner. I'm originally from up north& moved to southern SC 2 years ago. This is my second winter fishing down here & it is very comfortable fishing winter in the kayak here. How comfortable or miserable we are is mostly in our minds anyways. Winter & dead heat of summer I basically have everywhere I go to myself & love it. I'm in need of new rain gear, I had cheap set up that's well past needing to be replaced. But Im looking for something that will actually keep me dry& that I can stow away in limited space of my kayak. Any suggestions anyone??

Yeah I agree with you on the cold/hot. I can fish in 32 degree temps but it does feel different to me then you 🤣. I enjoy fishing during those temps because there are not many people on the lake. Same for when the weather is 100 outside! For rain gear the Aftco Barricade. I had the Bass Pro 100 MPH Goretex Suit for 14 years before that.

As for warm weather rain gear I really like Frog Toggs . Lightweight breathable and stores easy. Hope this helps.

When I take off my cloths when I’m fishing it scares the fish off 😢
