MOST of the year I really need to remind my self to keep moving instead of honeymooning spots that I want the fish to be. In the fall, I can't be told enough to stop bogging down on the same spot for so long. I just decide that "the fish should be here" and refuse to leave until I prove my self right. So thank you for also trying to get this message through my skull!

Man, I am on the struggle bus big time. My FB friends said, "hey you've been posting a lot of beautiful sunrise pics lately, but no fish"...yeah, welcome to late summer early fall fishing in western PA. The mysteries of bass fishing are what keep me going though. Fun and exasperating in the same time.

It's even unpredictable in small ponds. Go from catching them like crazy one day to not even a nibble for days on end.

The fish have been schooled up for a few weeks in western NY, and i hit the same spot 4 times a week, pulling 20+ fish out by 8:30 am everytime. They shut off like clockwork, and i cover water on the kayak to pick off another 10+. Squarebill, spinnerbait ,buzzbait and small jerk bait.

This is my 1st October for bass since I got my kayak and started fishing the river nearby. It's cool to see the fish start to chase shad and school up but it is harder to find them now I noticed. Today was the slowest for me. I had 1 on but it got off when it jumped. It's my 1st time not landing a bass in 2 months. I figured it was slow cause it rained the day before but to rub salt in the wound some lil kid said he caught 6 fish on a blue/silver lipless crankbait he found on his garage floor... Looks like Im headed to Bass pro tomorrow! haha 😂

How would you approach ponds or small lakes in the fall? Do you have a video for that already? Des the transition affect bass as much in ponds?
@jamessullivan5683 Жыл бұрын
From my experience it does. But it happens quicker than on large bodies of water, because the temperature change happens faster in ponds and smaller lakes.

I find schools sitting off the back side of main lake points. I have 3 or 4 rods all tied the same with a 1 ounce tungsten c rig spro power swivel with 10 pound floro main line & a 6 foot 6 pound floro leader. Bait is a 5 inch curly tail robo Aaron’s magic or hologram Shad. It does cover a lot of productive water. Even fish mid column will chase it all the way down.

I put into the lake and say "eeny , meeny , miney , moe . Which way am I gonna go?" Our water in Florida doesn't get below like 80' in fall . I think our fish bed when the water gets down in the low 70's .

I'm mostly a crappie fisherman but because there are not many crappie tournaments near by and I don't have livescope, I've decided to try bass tournaments. I really enjoy your videos and look forward to each one. I'm in Missouri I believe you are in Iowa so the fishing is pretty similar. ( it's not like fishing in Texas or Florida ) I know knot strength is important and for crappie it's not a big deal as I deal with 2lb maximum. I use 20lb braid with a 10 fluorocarbon leader. I'm struggling with line type and size bass fishing plus good knots. I'm using 30lb braid for about everything typically. I believe you mentioned using as small as 8lb in one video for a particular bait. I'm really enjoying learning more about bass fishing and I hope to watch your channel grow. I make videos myself and I've got 2 friends that have 30k subs [ 1500 for me ] KZbin is a fun hobby for me. Looking forward to making bass videos and your videos are my #1 go to for improving my knowledge of bass. Thanks, I really enjoy the channel.

I just want you to know that I have enjoyed your videos for the last several ..... I watch a few other known people on KZbin and I think I've went through all of their backfiles... Your channel has been saved as one of my favorites and I started listening to you and I realized you're from Ohio... Which is really cool because your waters are similar to Mire waters from Fort Wayne Indiana ... I really enjoy your river fishing content... I fish one of the 3 rivers here in the Fort , The saint Joe But I fish the section between Leo reservoir.... And the Johnny appleseed d***... Which is awesome for large mouth and small mouth.... I really enjoyed the show the other day when you're on Indian Lake... My God daughter and I pass that lake every time we go snowboarding and Mad River ... And I've always wondered how it fished.... If you're ever swinging through Fort Wayne ... And you have several hours to spare ... I would not mind taking a ride with you and my body of water on the saint Joe... I do not comment a whole lot on any other pages besides here and there.... But definitely keep up the good work.....

@@terryGrindz_69 basically be prepared for whatever you encounter. Don't focus on a pattern but on where you are fishing. I personally always have a jig tied on. Then I have rods with different styles of moving baits that I can run at different depths. Maybe a top water set up and some sort of finesse rig.
