Do you cut your plastic off like that to shorten the profile?? I like to do that sometimes myself. But to fatten it up by forcing the inside skirt and stay flared out just a little bit more. I found back in the 90’s makes a little bit deferent then the other 100 that fish as seen go by. Can get the big bite or a lot more bites. Just wondering what your thoughts on on it.

Just wanted to comment and thank you. I used to fish as a child over 30 years ago. The biggest thing I ever caught was a little sunfish, and always dreamed of catching a largemouth bass. Never happened. A few months ago I bought a house on a small lake and never thought to fish it. My treasure of a wife surprised me with a little fishing kit as a way to decompress after work. I wasn't have any luck for a week straight and was getting frustrated. I found your content and did a deep dive into what I was doing wrong and decided to use a spinner bait with your recommended setup for murky water and at 36 years old, I fulfilled my childhood dream of catching a largemouth bass. I know it's not a big deal for most folk, but I am grateful that you put so much into these videos to help complete beginners to get their feet wet and have an idea of what works for your situation.

Reading ur comment made me smile with much happiness for u and ur catching ur first real fish. Id assume ur hooked for the rest of ur life. U get so much good from fishing i i believe. Mind body and soul will be healthier from fishing. Especially once one realizes fishing isnt exactly about catching fish. There is so much more one gains from a days fishing. Catching a fish or two is simply a nice bonus to something thats already great truely. I think most fishermen would agree and i think ull understand one day soon if u dont already. Tight lines to ya!

The 3/8 war eagle in that color is my go to, except i use a z man paddlerz in Houdini as a trailer in most scenarios. I like the slightly less aggressive kick the smaller paddle tail makes, especially in cold front conditions. Im also able to keep the bait a little deeper without slowing waaaay down. Now im thinking a swimming senko would work great too. Great video!

@vincentlivoti41842 ай бұрын
Pretty good video. A few things I would like to add. I am a retired small lure manufacturer. My specialty is spinnerbaits. One I disagree with using the treble hook for as a trailer hook. I noticed you were using a spinnerbait collar to secure the trailer hook to the main hook. You were using the open hole. If you were going to use a spinnerbait collar which works well, you should turn it sideways and punch it through the material. Using the pre-made hole will allow that hook to ride up on the main hook. Sometimes you'll even lose the hook. You'll never have a good Target for the bass if they biteb.short. If you rigged it the way I just suggested you would never need to use a treble hook. I almost never miss a fish when they strike short the way I rig my trailer hook. Second, when you were building the spinnerbait, you should put a bead on the wire shaft before you put your first inside blade. The bead helps keep junk from catching on the clevis. One other great tip you didn't mention was yo-yoing a spinnerbait. Usually a single Colorado blade with a short arm works best for this. I don't even think many manufacturers make a short arm single bladed bait. You can take one of your own and cut the wire down yourself and re-loop your swivel on. you can yo-yo from shallow water to deep walking the bait down. Also great for working ledges deep. Caught a lot of bass yo-yoing a spinner bait like a jig. I'm up in NY and I fish a lot of clear water. I always add some type of soft plastic trailer to my spinner bait even in the ultra clear water. The added plastic helpes the bass to inhale the spinnerbait. using just a skirt is usually not enough. You will definitely get more hookups with some type of plastic trailer. Depending on the water clarity, I can use a variety of plastics most of the time. I use some type of swim bait trailer or a split tail trailer. The spinnerbait is a truly versatile lure and there's so many more ways to use it. You could not cover it all in one video. Thanks for making the video. You gave a lot of great tips.

I like the way you present almost everything about the bass hobby. On a side topic you may want to address. What could be the optimum combos of braid to mono or flouro. Given on the specific diameters of when connect thru a given type of knot. Maybe 4 or more knots for stats. Results found on strength. line breakage, either type. etc. Just a thought to ponder over.

Each angler, whether professional or amateur, will find their own way to use it. I only use painted blades regardless of the season, even in clear water.
@briancooper29488 ай бұрын
if you trim the arm 1/4"-1/2" it will put the blades closer to skirt and get the hook more exposed and this is ok in grass which I tend to burn thru and not use a trailer hook = improves the hook up ratio greatly = to keep the bait up if slower retrieves are needed but keeping the bait near surface add a trailer similar to Chatterbaits ... just adds a small sinking resistance but not enough to slow it down too much

That right handle reel is affecting you being productive while pitching that spinnerbait. Switch to a left handle and you'll be more productive and catch more fish. You're right hand dominant, so you need a left handed reel. Takes a few hours to do the switch.
