Jojo the monkey/Monkey island theme

Monkey Island. The very ESSENCE of adventure gaming. Also, the music is quite nice, isn't it? Here we have the iconic Monkey Island theme, and before that "Jojo the Monkey" from Monkey Island 2, arranged for accordion. To my knowledge, both songs are by Michael Land, arrangements are mine. I partly transcribed the original theme and partly the Metropole orchestra version that can be found on the youtube also. Kudos to whoever made THAT arrangement, check it out!
It was recorded in May, 2011, in Pop&Jazz conservatory, Helsinki, Finland and was part of my Bachelors degree concert.

This is easily the VERY BEST arrangement of this song I've heard, and I have an unhealthy relationship with the number of these arrangements I've heard. How the violins come in after the flute is *chefs kiss*. A true spiritual representation of the song.

Crazy to see how much alive and kicking these games fandom is today, LucasArts and the creators of Monkey Island really left a lasting impression on a lot of people that see it than more than just a silly series of spaghetti-pirate point and click adventure games with silly characters. I've been on a Monkey Island Theme song binge and this is easily the best one. If you listen to the theme on the MT-32, THIS sounds like a true recreation of what the original composer was going for.

Thank you for sharing this piece of art. The Jojo theme was one of my favorites in the whole series. In the game, I sometimes went to the Bloody Lip Bar just to hear Jojo play. The Monkey Island theme arrangement is equally wonderful. Feels like childhood 🙂

If I was watching it live I was crying like a little baby (and I´m a 37 yo man). I play games since I my 48k spectrum times, I did witness the appears of this adventure games. And you made play here (SPECTACULAR) 2 soundtracks of 2 of my fav games OF ALL TIME. Monkey Island and Gabriel Knight! @Ovalopus Well, maybe it comforts you to hear that it was a degree on bass guitar...but instead of playing fusion jazz, I took the unorthodox approach.The jury decided that it was a great idea, but not so brilliant showcase of my skills as a player, and gave me 3/5. Well that's GOOD, but I hoped for better. But yeah, it was fun, and I intend to expand my horizons, and do this again...with a bigger band!

Not _the_ best cover of the MI theme just because it ties with the Metropole Orchestra cover. Both are freaking awesome and I can't tell which one is better. This one seems to me more faithful to the original arrangement but still the Metropole Orchestra cover is just as good and it includes the introduction song. I love the drums & percussion in that cover, but here there are some instruments that are missing there. And the lady with the accordion, she is just perfect! Thank you so much for sharing.

I love both these songs, the games, the jokes, and everything about the coolest pirate that has ever lived. But dude, research! While playing Jojo the monkey from MI2, you showed footage of smilin' stans previously owned vessels, from monkey island 1! You might have showed other MI1 clips, but i didn't watch the footage all the way through. Nice video, and a great cover, that i have absolutely fallen in love with.
