We have one proverb here, that when God was giving land to the nations, bulgarians were late, so there was no land for them and God gave them a piece of heaven. When you dig deep into the history and traditions everywhere you find the simbolism of God. It is how everything worked back then, however nowadays it is not the same. But there are archives even in the Vatican, you can dig deep and deeper and see... God bless you!

The song is about a young woman and a young man. He's fallen asleep on her arm, and while she enjoys watching him sleep, the morning sun begins to rise and is now time to wake him up. He is dear to her, she wishes she could let him sleep a bit more, so she just sings gently to him. He wakes up but he is too tired to get up and just sings back to her :) This is kind of what the story line is, not a precise direct translation. It's a beautiful song :)

Meaning To everyone around the world who would like to know the meaning of the lyrics of this enchanting Bulgarian folklore song (cannot be translated to do it justice, so here's my take on it): The song paints a captivating scene of a young couple, immersed in the gentle embrace of dawn. As the morning light caresses their tranquil haven, the scene unfolds with the boy peacefully sleeping on the girl's arm. The verses delicately capture the essence of the girl's profound love, portrayed through her contemplation of whether to disturb his peaceful repose. Her gaze, filled with adoration, lingers upon him, torn between the duty that beckons with the rising sun and the desire to prolong this intimate moment hidden from the world. In a poignant decision, she opts to rouse him from his slumber with utmost tenderness. The song masterfully captures the nuances of this awakening, revealing the young man's reluctant stir from the realm of dreams. His confession, expressed with poetic vulnerability, unveils the depth of their connection as he describes feeling utterly melted away within the cocoon of her embrace. Each line resonates with the palpable love that envelops them, creating a tapestry of emotions that speaks to the hearts of those who listen. PS - There are many similarities between Balkan nations' folklore and I thank dearly to all people around the world who express their love and support. ❤

You have to know that a special „technique“ is needed to sing like this. Bulgarian folklore singing technique was passed on from mother to daughter in the countryside. This is also the „secret“ of the Bulgarian voices. Others simply speak of the „most beautiful songs in the world.“ It is interesting that with this singing technique they can create incredibly complex-beautiful chords, which, despite cultural differences worldwide, are perceived as „beautiful, poignant“ or simply impress emotionally.

The truth looks different. That’s the shaddow side of that Beautiful orchestra, which represents only the „good side“. According to history, beginning with the conquer of Bolgars, the region this song comes from (Rhodopes), many ethnohistorical Greek and Serbian as well as Vlach songs were already vanished. When the Ottomans came, things were changing even more rapidly, but also a new cultural impact enriched its regional culture. In the modern times, when the radical Bumgarian exarchate claimed these regions only for themselves, expelling all Greeks and Serbs as well as Macedonians and many Turks, a huge collection of these regional songs and other cultural peculiarities were banned or vanished at all. Thanks to travellers from Turkey, Austria, Germany and Serbia, many of these were collected by regional inhabitants. A huge collection of forgotten/ banned folksongs about Serbs or Greeks are preserved und Vuk Karadzic‘s collection of folksongs. Please consider also the ethnohistorical aspects, because: „not everything what appears beautiful, will mean the right direction“. Kind regards.

The Bulgarian national orchestra is indeed great, as they use old instruments and the old Style of singing of Balkan Slavs. Still, not every music they produce is of Bulgarian heritage, since they occupied since the beginning of the 20th century Serbian lands radically by the „Bulgarian exarchate“, supported by Russia and the Ottomans. This song is a Rhodopian song. It‘s said, that the most beautiful songs come from the Shoppi region, an ethnohistorical Serbian place. This style of singing has long tradition amongst Bulgarians and Serbs, since the Middle Ages.
@MargaritaILP2 жыл бұрын
@@tzvetkov4784 Omg.... You write like a propaganda expert... Shopi region is not Serbian. Only a small part of it. The greatest portion of it is Bulgarian. It's a complete lie that the most beautiful songs come from there, such a sentence only shows your complete lack of knowledge for Bulgarian folklore. Rhodope mountain is 15 min away from where I live, hahaha, and guess what, people there are proud Bulgarians. Time to stop communist Yugoslavian propaganda. The only true thing you wrote was that folklore in the Balkans has some shared characteristics, but come on, those songs are not Serbian, grow up and learn to be proud from what you truly have, not from what you wish you had!

Romanians and Bulgarians are almost one and the same people genetically and in customs, dances and religion and were sharing for centuries one and the same state. We are brothers.
@tomasmuir90996 ай бұрын
@@stoilstoilov5572 Why are the languages so different though? Bulgarian is slavic and Romanian is latin based, I heard this is from the isolation of Carpathian region but what do you think?
@nikolaistoyanov17204 ай бұрын
@@tomasmuir9099 Until the beginning of the 19th century, Bulgarian was spoken and written in the Danubian principalities of Wallachia and Moldova, which later became Romania. The Bulgarian language is also official for the state office. In the 19th century, 4 major language reforms were carried out and a language based on old Latin was adopted. The letters were changed / from Cyrillic to Latin / and the vocabulary was changed. Despite these changes, even today 20% of the Romanian vocabulary is Bulgarian or has a Bulgarian root. And the change of language was made because in the 17th-18th-19th centuries the Danube principalities were vassals of either the Ottoman Empire or Russia. The fear that after the next Russo-Turkish war, which Russia will win, will turn them into its province with a Slavic-speaking population, makes them make this change.
