Visuals by Sebastian Wahl
In Spring of 2016, we teamed up with Sebastian and Black Lake Media members Matt Cummer and Nick Grimshaw to create a one-of-a-kind live visual piece for ‘Journey To The Center’. Sebastian created the still composition as a layered resin piece, and Black Lake ‘brought it to life’ as a digital creation, meticulously animating each element layer by layer, and timing each element perfectly to the beat of the song.

The imagery seems to depict man's ascent to his own inevitable demise. The natural is replaced with the manufactured. Cultures are wiped away for massive cities. Harmony is replaced by oppression... Note that once the all seeing eye from US currency appears at the song's midpoint, the decline takes hold. That is when the butterflies are replaced by the devices of oppression, ears to listen with, hands and spirals to distract, and so on... Even the music itself transitions from being harmonious to menacing at the close.

There's no purpose in life. It's just a dance. The dance of life. The dna molecule itself symbolizes this very fact. It's a never ending swirl, its cyclical pairs of molecules in a eternal spiral around one another represent our lives, seemingly purposeless but beautiful in design. While we go about satifying our ego like we are supposed to we forget that were are mere blips in a grand design.

Daniel Ahmed it is that understanding of our existence that allows us to matter. allowing ourselves to see how small we really are, and how big the universe can only be. if you understand that black implies white; self implies other; life implies death; you can feel yourself, not as a stranger in the world.not as someone here on sufferance or probation.not something that has arrived here by fluke. but you can begin to feel your own existence as absolutely fundamental. what you are basically, deep deep down, far far in, is simply the fabric and structure of existence itself. existence is an equation with unreachable odds of happenning but here we are. our universe is unbelievably huge but change one single thing, macro or quantum, and that equation ceases to work. "Or one might take the tip of the pencil and magnify it. One reaches the point where a stunning realization strikes home: The pencil tip is not solid; it is composed of atoms which whirl and revolve like a trillion demon planets. What seems solid to us is actually only a loose net held together by gravity. Viewed at their actual size, the distances between these atoms might become league, gulfs, aeons. The atoms themselves are composed of nuclei and revolving protons and electrons. One may step down further to subatomic particles. And then to what? Tachyons? Nothing? Of course not. Everything in the universe denies nothing; to suggest an ending is the one absurdity. "If you fell outward to the limit of the universe, would you find a board fence and signs reading DEAD END? No. You might find something hard and rounded, as the chick must see the egg from the inside. And if you should peck through the shell (or find a door), what great and torrential light might shine through your opening at the end of space? Might you look through and discover our entire universe is but part of one atom on a blade of grass? Might you be forced to think that by burning a twig you incinerate an eternity of eternities? That existence rises not to one infinite but to an infinity of them?
