I don't believe I've ever heard Bob speak before. He seemed like a genuine and funny guy. RIP bud. The music lives on.

The Soundtrack to my youth. I've never stopped listening to them, except for a period when my girlfriend passed away. Music is a spiritual thing, & The Mats helped guide me through my life.❤

Super well made video, made a compelling narrative out of all the various bits. Loved it.

don't know how you could do a full length doc on them since there's so little footage of the original band

I can't even choose. Most songs from "Sorry, Ma." Anything with Bob's crazy guitar riffs on a good night. Live at 7th Street was epic.

Saw them in 1986 in Columbus OH, The Royal Crescent Mob opened. The Mats did some real toe tappers, Take Me Home Country Road and Hitchin a Ride. No talk between any of their songs.

Clip at end of Bastards is def from Milwaukee. Only off part of the entire night, which sounds like the best show I heard from any of the reunion tour, was his stupid shirt.

The one guy complaining about the replacements success is probably a very good musician who can’t write a song or come up with an original idea. This is what we call a guitar teacher who plays in cover bands. Nothing wrong with that, but don’t be bitter about not having what Westerberg has.

Well said...or he could've been the typical snobby Sam Ash employee who looked down on newer muscians

Not a documentary, but a love letter. Bob was the spirit of the Mats. One of the best bands the US has ever produced, but the idea that Westerberg now has to whore his past is comical. He was bitter back then because they couldn't successfully whore their present. Bob was kicked out because he didn't look "rock and roll" enough as much as his sobriety issues. After getting sober one time, Westerberg insisted he "take a drink or get off my fucking stage!" Bob acquiesced. I'm sure Paul doesn't like to think about that now. There was plenty of blame to go around. Instead of spelling out "Now I have to whore my past, he should have spelt out "We miss you, Bob! Thanks for the ride!"

Damn, good video overall but you left out so many interesting/important details about the band, like the fact that Tommy was only like 13 when they released their first album and the fact that during their 1991 show and their final tour Chris was no longer in the band

I love that idiots still think that it's how great you can play which makes you a good band. You can be the best ever but if you can't write a song who cares. That's why the Ramones will always find new fans no matter what decade.

You spelled “spelled” wrong when you spelled it “spelt”. Spelt is an ancient grain not the past tense form of the verb “spell”.
