For self defence this will get you killed, however I am getting one to set up trip wires for when I camp alone, the noise will be a deterrent for animals, and a warning for the 2 legged dangers.

It may work a fraction of the time, but you are right, if you are going to defend yourself you go from 0 to 100, any half assed attempt at defending yourself will likely get you killed.

Flashlight is way better than alarm. Alarm no good when in wilds when nobody can hear your alarm. Flashlight a powerful one can stun attacker for more than 20 seconds by that time you have many things to do for self defence. Tatical flashlight is more effective for self defence because if your attacker can't see you then he will mostly likely back down. This alarm would be ideal with trip wire round tent so if animal or person gets near at night you'll wake up!
