Sir today evening I opened my windows and turned off the lights, I was checking out my mobile, suddenly I felt a mosquito bite like sensation in my left foot one near the toe region another behind the navicular region, I didn't pay much heed to it as I thought it was a mosquito bite, I kind of scratched it with my other foot, later when I turned on the lights I saw two small bat like creatures (not as big as bats) moving in circles in my room..I could not see any bite marks in my foot but I could feel the scratching sensation. First I washed it and then I went to hospital and the doctor said nothing to worry and he gave me a dose of tetanus..It happed today evening Sir, I'm really scared should I take an ARV??

Dear sir mere room bed per bat betha hua tha or mere paw per red nissan bhi tha but i am not sure ki bat ne bite kiya ya salvia choda. Ye nisaan me pain bahut jyada tha or baad me bda ho gya nissan or kbhi blue or kbhi red ho jata h nissan to kaise pta lgaga ki ye bat ki vjh se h ya nhi. Is baat ko 15 din ho gye koi vaccine nhi li h maine abhi tak.

Hello, sir! I am from Bangladesh.. In the previous 3 months and 17 days i took 10 doses of rabies vaccine in numerous occasions for suspected rabies contact. I am an OCD patient. Today morning i discovered two punchered bite like wounds on my leg. I suspect it was a bat bite on the night. Should i need to take two more doses of ARV boosters..? The last dose was 10 days ago. In my country there are only 3 doses of vaccine in a full course.

rabies virus remain alive only in nervous tissues. from brain it travels down to salivary gland through nerves. it gets secreted in saliva and transferred to bite sites.again at the bite site it gets attached to the nerves and travels towards brain.this is the natural cycle. so throughout the cycle it multiplies in nervous tissues only. now coming to your question, once it gets outside the body where no nervous tissue is there it dies within couple of seconds. i hope it clears your doubt…. 🙏🏻 और अगर outside saliva में वायरस ज़िंदा रहता तो ना जाने कितनी जाने चली जाती अब तक । ख़ास कर उन बच्चों की जो गली मुहल्ले में नंगे पैर खेलते रहते हैं और कुत्तों का saliva रोड पर गिरा रहता है

usually Indian bats don't carry rabies virus. Probably in your country also same bats are found . So there is nothing to worry about in your case . depends on the dog's survival. 1. if dog remained alive for more than 10 days, then presently there is no need of ARV. 2. if dog died within 10 days, then ARV is must. note - usually the incubation period of rubbish varies from one week to one year.
