Here Jenny Clark MBE, founder of the Sussex Bat Hospital and dedicated bat conservationist and wildlife educator, shares her expertise and passion for her work in caring for grounded and injured bats. Jenny introduces us to some of her rescued bats - Noctule, Whiskered, Common Pipistrelle and Brown Long-Eared - and explains how she must first carry out an all-round health check on each one, including looking for and treating any injuries. When each bat is fit and well and has reached ideal weight, it must then pass the `flying test` - assessed for skills, stamina and attitude - before it can be successfully released back into the wild. This will be impossible for some bats - but they then become part of Jenny`s team of educators - giving members of the public the opportunity to encounter bats and to learn more about the importance of bat conservation. Jenny`s expert, gentle care for the bats is clear, as is her wealth of knowledge as she speaks about what we can all do to help protect and preserve our native bat species. www.bats.org.uk/ An Adliberate film www.adliberate.... for WoodlandsTV www.woodlands.c...

Thank you so much for this video and your invaluable care, presentation and information, you have helped us so much on our first bat rescue! Normally it's birds, that people bring us and so luckily we have a goodly supply of mealworms, not sure the quail are happy about another mouth to feed though. Your video and presentation, is the epitome of what KZbin used to be about, unique individuals and it's a pity they didn't appreciate what they had and cherish them, rather than favouring generic white noise. Best wishes from Normandie, Sue xx

Pine martens, bald eagles, moose, wolves, - major species like these were in decline when I was young but they're all safe now. However, the lack of bats and insects like monarch butterflies is unsettling because there's no major media or government impetus to stop their decline in The U.S. There used to be bats around most street lights when I was a kid and they'd be flying around our yard every night. I guess a lot of people don't find them very cute.

But the reason that diseases are spread from bats to humans is, that they come too close to each other, for which the humans are to blame, because, as she said, bats are shy, they stay away from us normally... I would love to see her explaninig that in a video ✨
