I want to see you shoot that 358 UMA. Hammer bullets have been very accurate for me in my factory rifles. Very curious to see how they shoot in your custom guns.

@quarterminutemagnums if it's heavy enough, there is any recoil! I'm shooting a 41 pound 37xc. 400 grain Cutting Edge Bullets at 2975fps i can spot impacts at 400 uards!

It would be great if you tried one of Joel's receivers. I think he would appreciate it, too.

These are lapua face Bats are great, especially with the new mag and bottom metal from Unkown. 3.95 mags are great!

Bryce Towsley created his 358 UMT over 20 years ago. It’s basically the same cartridge as the one discussed in the video. Not long after the 358UMT he did a 416 version too.

When the RUM family hit the market, I bought the 7mm , 300 , 338 , and 375 RUM . Me & Dad were so excited to get them . I now have built a 270/277 RUM improved 40°sholder and its a beast . As fast as my 22-250 AI with 110-130gr . I enjoy shooting all my RUMS . They weigh anywhere from 9lbs to 12lbs, 26-28in barrels. I did put 5 port muzzle breaks on each one, and yes, it tamed them down alot like shooting a 25-06 or 270 . Iam going to build a 35cal RUM And a 416cal RUM and maybe a 500/510 RUM . I know some people that have built them except they improved the cartridge and call it the TEXAN . He made the whole line from 257 , 264 , 277 , 284 , 300 , 325 , 338 , 358 , 375 , 416 , 500 Texan. I have a 416-450 rigby, and the 416-450 RUM imp will push the 400gr bullet 300-500fps faster than Rigby's cartridges. Iam a gun lover never to many and never enough lol . Looking forward to seeing how the 358 UMA turns out. God bless you and your family God-bless America 🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱

I built a 358 RUM about 15 years ago, by simply necking up the full length 300 RUM case to 358. And for reference, I was pushing 250gr bullets to 3250 fps with 105gr of H4831 and 225gr Bullets to 3350 with 106.5gr of H4831. Yours should be very similar I would think. As to your curiosity about shooting elk with it? It's the most impressive elk cartridge I've personally ever used. The second most is my other big 358 Wildcat, the 358 Sledgehammer. I necked up a 330 Dakota to 358. It pushed 250gr bullets to 3070 fps and 225gr bullets to 3200 fps... Both rifles were 9.5-10lbs with wood stocks and light magnum barrel contours, and used for hunting... Neither rifle was very comfortable to shoot at all wothout a brake. Ask me how I know 😂😂😂 I look forward to the finished result of this build... Both rifles referenced have 26" barrels...

I understand that what your paying for in a BAT reciever is that the surfaces are straight or "true". Flat faces. How resilient would you feel these type of bolt actions are in harsh conditions like dust, arctic, freezing rain, and general muck. Would tight tolerances be an hinderence in such conditions?

I wish you or someone would do a video discussing the differences between all the various receiver manufacturers. Should I get a rem 700 (or clone) and get it machined or get some exotic like a bat? Do the expensive receivers need machining??
@quarterminutemagnums14 күн бұрын
Dear Sir - not feasible, cost prohibitive. Somebody has to pay for all this stuff! Thanks................

It wouldn't necessarily require you to have all the actions on hand. We know what they look like. Just a video of your experiences with different receivers and options, and expectations for different brands and models. Keep the videos coming.🎉
