I heard one of the reasons why tickets were expensive was because of limited flights to control the number of people visiting the place. Imagine what will happen if throngs of tourists invade the islands due to cheap flights. It makes sense to me.

You are correct. The towns of Batanes are mindful of the number of visitors that they get. It is increasing every year! The mayors were setting a maximum number of people that they thought they could accommodate without doing any harm to their environment. I kinda agree with them.

I love Batanes! You are right about its serenity. I felt so close to nature when I was there. No distractions just beautiful nature. There's so much history and the locals were really nice. The best part was waking up early to see the sunrise and waiting for the sunset.

Except you cannot live there. Batanes is under Republic Act no. 8371 which protects the indigenous people and their land. If you are not an ivatan, there's no way you can live in Batanes.
