Plus if you think about it like let’s say I’m an AM and to be very generous on the company’s side their paying me 500 a month right? That’s not enough to support yourself. So now because you have to make a living, your not only skating for a company that is barely supporting you but you would have to have a job also. Then you have to think like maybe you should be really careful with the stuff you try skateboarding because if you get hurt now you can’t work. So your never really going to give it everything to go pro unless you live with your parents or somehow don’t have bills. They should at least pay a working wage. To say don’t pay them at all is kind of dumb.

“No doing tricks that slide on the ground if your opponent popped his trick” means that you have to pop your tail on defense if the person who set popped their tail. Some dudes (e.g. Marc Johnson) back in the day were doing tricks like 360 shoves and BS bigspins without popping at all, because the floor is so smooth. As far as I know, the rule isn’t referring to sliding out the last bit of a trick. As long as the tail popped, it’s good

Thats the one and only issue I have with TheNineClub ist that they always spin everything into a positive light. Everything and everyone is happy and good, only positivity on most of the discussed things. No criticism at all. I mean positivity is good and all, but a bit criticism should be said too. Thats why I like Roger cause he (mostly) says his true opinion, positive AND negative.
@thesuperstomper47762 жыл бұрын
I agree with you but there is a rant/discussion where Roger was going off on the skate industry about paying the filmer and he went on for a good 20 minutes. You could tell he was still pissed off after tons of years. Then he mentions that he comes to the nine club to celebrate the good part of skating, he’s not there to get upset.

Agreed. That's my issue with the 9 club too. It's almost like its set up as a front for the "skate industry". They'd never actually rag on anybody. That's pretty weird because I can almost guarantee Roberts and/or Roger is or was a Stern fan. In contrast to something like The Bunt or The Mostly Skateboarding podcast that do actually (or let their guests) criticize people or companies.
@audiomystic2 жыл бұрын
There’s an episode where the dudes were shitting on Roger. It was about “should filmers get paid and how much?”. Roger explained all the reasons they should, and how pay is still way too low. Other dudes basically looked at him and were like “be happy just to exist and do it for free”. In the attempt to spin everything positive. Shit, people getting paid enough to stay off the streets is positive if you ask me. Unrealistic positivity becomes toxic. It was really uncomfortable for me to watch because they were not hearing or siding with Roger, the only one of them that has been a serious filmer his whole life…
@audiomystic2 жыл бұрын

Man thank you for pointing out the lame 360s in BATB. Ever since it began hardly any refs call sliding entire 180+ degree slides on the ground. A popped 360 fully spun in the air is not at all the same as a weak 180 to 180 revert. Feel like there needs to be a specific rule for spins even though the pop rule should be enough. There should be no “am” skaters. There should be flow which are unpaid people coming up who get product, a “minor league” equivalent pro who get paid but maybe on a lower tier and not getting signature products, and full pro who have signature products and higher pay. Amateur skaters are often promoting the companies they ride for just as much as their pro counterparts, and really are only am by status. There are plenty of ams at a higher level than some pros. They should definitely get paid- and whatever magazine shot or social media pay pros get, ams should get the exact same.

@MrNight-iw9md2 жыл бұрын
@ShootinTheShit there is something called a “billboard shot” and different companies have different payment agreements based on their logos appearing in magazines. For example, when you see a skater in a magazine, if the logo on their hat or shirt is clearly visible, and likewise for the bottom of the board including stickers, and shoes, they get paid a pre negotiated amount from those companies. This is influenced by where the shot appears, and how large the image is. Of course these are negotiable and more popular skaters can demand higher pay, but whether it is an am or a pro, they are both putting those logos out in a publication which the company is reaping advertisement benefits. I’m not sure if ams get paid for providing that kind of exposures or their sponsors, but if they don’t, they should be able to negotiate appropriate pay for those scenarios. They might already, but if not, they should.
@SawDawify2 жыл бұрын

@davidbroberg46462 жыл бұрын
there is no need for that rule conserning "shovits", beacuse in a game of skate you try to do the same trick as your opponent. so if your opponent does a POP-shovit , you have to do a POP-shovit. if you do a shovit, you fail. if your opponont does a shov-it, you have to do a shov-it, if you do pop-shovit you fail. on bigspin it is bit vierder, beacuse a bigspin can be done both in the air and sliding on th eground, it is called a bigspin nomatter what. anyway:" NO SLIDING ON THE GROUND" MEANS NO FUCKING SLIDING ON THE GROUND WHAT SO EVER, if your opponent popped his trick. alleast dont slide more than your oppononet.
