Is unbelievable how many people wouldn't even appreciate the effort and the work this kid has put on his tutorials. I would say stop judging him; his tutorials are offering plenty of knowledge for all of us who are new to this stuff. Maybe those judges should just stop watching this videos, since they already know everything, they most likely don't need them. Great job kid! Keep it up! I am learning something new with your tutorials. Oh, and thank you very much for all your efforts!

I feel like anyone who has any solid understanding of basic programming can follow along perfectly. If you're too ignorant to follow along, go read some more, come back, and leave a positive "thank you for these videos" type of statement. I personally love these videos and appreciate sincerely the time and effort it took to put them together for people like me.

yeah! you literally don't even need to read a book. I started by copy and pasting simple programs into np and playing around with things and googling commands until I had a basic understanding of how batch works. do that and come back and you will get a more formal understanding and maybe learn something new. i know the for command was a new one for me

When giving the user options, especially when there's a lot of them, I find it's easier to use "if" commands. Example: @echo off echo [1] Create echo [2] Check echo. set /p PROGRAM= What do you want to do?: if %PROGRAM%==1 goto createpass if %PROGRAM%==2 goto checkpass :createpass cls echo (CODING HERE) :checkpass cls echo (CODING HERE)

I have found a better looking (in my opinon) way to do that show options thing in Batch. This I what that look like: @echo off echo What do you want to do? echo Option1 echo Option2 set /p options=[Enter a space here] pause>nul exit For those of you who don't know, pause does show a "Press any key to continue." but if you don't want that, just put a >nul next to it. This also works for things like timeout.

I am also having trouble understanding the part in your script that said: For /f "Delims=" =%%a in (test.txt) do ( set TEXT=%%A ) Please just explain that a bit better
@lurkerrekrul
@lurkerrekrul 5 жыл бұрын
Better late than never... FOR creates a loop, although in this case, it only reads one item, so not really much of a loop. /f tells it that it's going to be reading data from a file. "Delims=" tells it to read the entire line by setting the 'deliminators' to nothing. Deliminators tell it where to stop reading data and the default deliminator is a space. So without that, it would stop reading the data if it encountered a space. This can be used with a more complex form of the command to read multiple items on a single line, separated by spaces. %%A basically works like a variable that will hold the data read from the file. It has some special properties that variables don't, but also some limitations compared to variables. It is REQUIRED to use this in a FOR loop rather than a regular variable, although you're free to use other letters. IN tells it that data from the file is going to go into %%A. (TEST.TXT) name of file to read data from. DO tells it to 'do' the commands that follow. In this particular instance, the SET command could have been placed directly after it on the same line, however using an open parenthesis '(' allows you to include multiple lines and have them all treated as one command. SET TEXT=%%A tells it to take the contents of %%A and put them in the variable TEXT. The close parenthesis tells it that that's the end of the commands that should be executed by the DO command. Before moving on. If there were multiple commands, or the FOR loop was reading multiple items from the file, all the commands between the parentheses would be executed each time the loop ran. Although trying to do much with variables inside that loop is a whole other story.

Hello my friend, I think you just explained a very useful lesson. But I do have a question though How can you make for /f search for a specific word in a text file. in your example, it is searching for one word, and returns one value. Lets say we used >>, which means it appends new inserted values into the text file. How can the loop search for the input in the text file and make an accurate comparison. if you can upload a lesson with regard to my question, i will greatly appreciate my friend. Thanks a lot and I did learn a lot from your example.

Well you can simple add this: :start cls echo -create (create password) echo -check (check password) echo. set /p PROGRAM= What do you want to do?: ::This part right here checks if you have entered correct input values. If so, it will ::goto the input specified. if "%PROGRAM%" == "create" goto %PASSWORD% if "%PROGRAM%" == "check" goto %PASSWORD% ::How it's broken down: ::if "%PROGRAM%" == "create" goto %PASSWORD% ::Basically, if %PROGRAM% equals create, it will goto create. ::Another way is to do this: ::if "%PROGRAM%" == "create" goto create ::it does the same thing, because %PROGRAM% and create are the same thing. echo Incorrect Command. pause goto start

This only can read 2 lines from the document. Here is the code: @echo off ::Initiate the variables here set user= set pass= setlocal enabledelayedexpansion ::Creates the username and password echo %user%>test.txt echo %pass%>>test.txt ::initiates the counter variable set /a counter=0 for /f "Delims=" %%a in (test.txt) do ( ::Adds 1 to the counter set /a counter=!counter!+1 ::If %counter% = 1, aka the first line of the document, then it will set usernamea ::equal to %user% if !counter!==1 set USERNAMEA=%%a ::If %counter% = 2, aka the second line of the document, then it will set ::passworda equal to %pass% if !counter!==2 set PASSWORDA=%%a ) ::Display your username and password echo username:%USERNAMEA% echo password:%PASSWORDA% pause

It's not a tutorial about actually making or storing passwords for fuck's sake. A password manager would be more advanced and made in a more powerful language like C++ or Python or Ruby. And you NEVER EVER EVER save passwords on a computer, you save the hash of them, preferably salted hashes. For example: use a 128-bit random salt such as salt = "8a6b7ef97ab919a928efcd2028abd820", along with the SHA256 hash of your password-salted: SHA256(salt + "th1sisaRUBBISH passw0rd"). Only the OUTPUT of the hash function, and the value of the salt, are saved in the password file, not the value of the password itself.
