Mazda are very much reading the room, customers don't want electric they want traditional ICE but manufacturers are choosing not to make them because the government says so. This is an absolute goldmine for Mazda and one I very much support.

My Mazda 6 is 2.2D in 2014 model. I've been driven it near 100K miles,and it has over 150K miles on the clock. Nothing wrong with the engine, still runs very smoothly. How impressive!

In our tiny Mazda showroom, they have been quite popular and we are in quite an expensive area near London. We have had 10+ electric cars come in as part exchange... All less than a year old - they just don't work for some people. They are great cars and love them very much! :)

I think the mazda diesels sound quite good (although I'm talking about the 2.2D). Crazy and awesome to see Mazda doing so much with skyactiv x and these small innovations to other engines. We just lost all manuals for the mazda 3 and the skyactiv x engine in Australia 😢

The 2.2 turbodiesel is one of Mazda's best. A 3.3 straight 6? Sounds anachronistic, but considering the issues emerging with how electric cars will fare on the used markets, I think they're on to something

He fails to mention it is a MHEV Mild Hybrid, and those cars are still going to be for sale in the UK till 2035. The engine noise is not 'artificially enhanced' either. I have one, its glorious aside from the stiff ride, however Koni are released adaptive dampers for it shortly, so I will be upgrading. My current motorway MPG is 62-68mpg. Around town 36-38mpg. I had the CX60 PHEV before, and traded it in for this, the PHEV was not the right setup for this car.

I wonder if they will pair the PHEZ with either the 3l petrol or diesel in the future. I'd love to get the phez, but once the battery is gone, it's efficiency is terrible compared to these other engines.

I also ordered one :) Can't wait to get it. Also tested the PHEV and it just didn't click for me. I love Diesel engines and really hope they will still make them in the future. I was wondering, though, if this engine is fit for my type of activity - mixed city and highway/national roads, with quite many stops - I wouldn't want to ruin it by using it inappropriately. I am looking for honest opinions from CX-60 3.3 Diesel owners / users :) It is still too new for the reviewers to give real insight.

I have run a cx 60 petrol hybrid for 2 years and I love many aspects of car, it is heavy and a few gremlins with drivetrain and frankly plugging in for 35 miles each day is a faff. I drove the diesel and suspension is far better less hard and 150 kg lighter. So I am going back to diesel in March. The in line 6 is a gem.

This is the car I want, but in Australia it is becoming very expensive. As the only Diesel available in large SUV that offers real tech improvement, it is the only choice. I have a SORENTO TURBO DIESEL which is a great SUV, but the DIESEL is being dropped in favour of the bloody EV push. This does not suit most Aussie drivers who prefer the performance of turbo Diesel. Kudos to Mazda for holding the line. Rear wheel drive turbo diesel, you beauty!

Diesel is not dead! I fact PHEV diesel ⛽️ cars are a very sensible choice like Mercedes make are prefect for many drivers amazing kudos to Mazda for making this change.

It have consumption as some Polo or Fabia diesel so.less then Polo or Fabia petrol!! electric cars sre garbage especially for longer journeys because electricity on chargers now costs even more then fuel/diesel for same amount of distance

I think that the engine noise is understandable due to the fact that it is a diesel engine, yes-- there are diesel engine cars out there that does not produce much of a noise but if you're buying a diesel engine car, I am pretty sure that you know that THAT diesel engine noise comes with a package. You just have to deal with it.

This is a great option before moving to an EV in the next 5 or 4 years when the battery tech is able to charge faster and take you further…

It's tunned to be underpowered, for low fuel consumption and high torque.(550nm) This engine apparently can push a max 310hp with 680nm torque if remapped. 😉

I have never understood the appeal of a diesel engine. Diesel is always more expensive than the grades of gasoline. When gasoline was much more affordable in January 2020, diesel was still expensive. I know of people with large diesel trucks that have ranches and farms. I understand why they need the vehicles. I might get a Mazda that can be a hybrid or solely gasoline powered. We don't have to change our lives so drastically in such a short amount of time. Maybe when oil production is increased to pre-Covid levels prices will fall and people can choose the vehicle that is the absolutely best fit for them. WTG Mazda for realizing that this is an evolution of society and can't happen over night. We need to figure out where to get the rare Earth minerals and how to mine them efficiently. China can't be the main source of batteries and solar panels. We also need to develop methods to dispose of spent batteries and solar panels. We can change things for the better, but we should let our friends in developing countries have a chance to develop. We should also insist that our friends that live in the most polluted and populated countries do their part in cleaning up the air, water, and plastics.

3.3 D is way to much for tax, a 2.0 D from BMW delivers at least the same and doesn 't consume much. Not only a lot of Nox pollution also a lot of noise pollution. This is horrible.

Tax is based on emissions, if the mazda engine is MORE efficient than the BMW unit then it SHOULD be less.

Actually the opposite, it’s surprisingly more frugal than BMW’s 2.0D engine. And it can overcome Euro 7 regulation which is diesel biggest nightmare.
