These hot water wells in Jaffna are as old as human civilization. There are records of these going back thousands of years. These have always been a precious supply of freshwater even in the driest periods of the year, making them a major military objective to capture and hold in past war times.

thank you very much for keeping the jaffna railway station spotless. best clean station in lanka/ the tank where you swimmed is called kerimalai, was in use for more than 1000 years,the water is not salty,because the water is coming from natural underground limestone reservoirs (concentrated with calcium will cure some diseases) and go to the sea,it that is connected to miles and miles of channels under ground. like in dominican republic.this tank existed from 1250 AD.as per inscriptions /I like the old gentleman who help poor people with his money he get from his children. happy to see the places where I roamed in bicycle when i was young. but what happened to the tamils who lived there?I see sinhalese crept in everywhere because of army.

Hi Dale the foods on your plates Idiyappam , puddu,iddaly, thosai(not pan cake) ,uppumaa (uppu=salt),kondhal kadhalai (chick peas) and sweet stuff don't know how to call it. I googled keerimalai pond and found out that place is dating back to 1792. I left my country 40 years ago not gone back there yet,you are lucky in a way to be there and having fun. The coconut you had is called sevvilani is prety rare to get in Jaffna. Its nice to see people are helping you complete opposite in the western world. I been watching few of your videos ,really enjoy them. keep it up stay healthy my friend.

this pond was constructed some where in 1200 AD.this water is full of calcium,which can cure some decease,the water is coming from under ground calcium reservoirs made by porous holes miles and miles long run off rain water on top of sea water ,
