I thought it sounded perfectly demented then. I had all the Venom albums into 84 and many after, so I get the battle over these two bands, But this album sounded nothing like anything before it. Many around me then liking Venom, Slayer, and on, did not get this record, did not like it. So to put it in time perspective, anything that came later for comparison can't be done. This thing was on its own-pure evil, raw, demented. On first listen I thought it may have been an intentional joke [as at the time many hardcore bands where spoof bands], and Bathory was maybe, maybe some "Let's be a ridiculous Slayer" type of band-there were those bands too. I wasn't sure, there had been nothing like this to compare it to.
