Please keep posting, these are great, you do a great job breaking it down and explaining the process. Thank you, would love to see more Dead/Phish tunes.

Man you are one hell of a guitar player/improvisationalist (don’t know if that’s a word ha) I can play some pretty solid licks but nothing like those! I’ve become decent at playing all up and down the neck but I can’t stray away from playing the same “solid” blues scale licks. Do you ever post any tabs of cool improv stuff you come up with? Not to steal from another musician but more to lead me away from playing up and down the blues scale?

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!! Love your rhythmic approach to your improv. Do you play drums as well? I think Trey starting on drums was the key to his rhythmic chops. It's what makes all us phish phans want to dance all night. Nice job as always. There are a lot of nuggets to take away from this. Thanks brother!!

Thanks so much for the kind words, Serg! I don’t really play drums too well, but I think you’re absolutely right about that being the foundation for Trey’s rhythmic chops

Man this is incredible. Thank you for all of your hard work. How many shows have you been to and when was your first?

Thanks for watching, Chad! I've been to ~50 Phish shows, and I saw my first when I was 18 years old at Hampton on 1/2/03

oh man! about 2 months before my first show... Nassau 2/28/03. I was 16! I had 4th row seats. No concert has ever been the same. I was at the Brooklyn show too. I went to both. Jay Z night and the following one that's on DVD and you did videos on.

Man those licks are buttery! They all sound great, but I wish I could get my use of the blues scale to sound more like that. Use of the C7 chord tones I'm guessing is part of the key.
@amarguitar6 жыл бұрын
Hey Alex, if you spend some time memorizing the chord tones of C7 around the neck, you’ll be amazed what happens when you start to mix that approach with the blues scale. There’s a powerful synergy between those two that is hard to describe, but I try to do my best in this video

My playing is all based on the blues scale or box. I’m so limited. I really need to mess with the mixolidian. Serious Trey flavors right there
@amarguitar6 жыл бұрын
Playing around with mixolydian is a great way to step out of the blues box for sure
@jonathanphillips95044 жыл бұрын
I had just posted before reading on. I have this problem as well. If you’re jamming in A, I’m pretty much playing the blues scale w the root on the 5th. “Boxed in” is a great way to put it!
