This is exactly my situation in my bathroom. Just like you described it . Would you recommend claiming it on homeowners ? Or try to repair myself? Keeping in my mind I am not trained in home repair. Great and informative video. thanks

If I were you I would try doing it yourself... three walls of the bathtub enclosure will only set you back $200 in materials, not worth a claim in my opinion.

Theron Martin did u do the job ??? I have the exactly same problem in my 2 bathroom I bought the house 2 months ago and I don't have money ,I want do by myself but I don't know how difficult is the job .....I need remove the bathtub to replace the tile and durock o drywall ? thanks

I wonder what I'll be finding once I start the demo of my mom's bathroom downstairs. Let me give you a little hint on what we *CAN* see: no spacing at all between the tiles (seriously, none used, they are sitting on top of each other, literally. You can't even push a razor blade in between), serious lippage on every single tile, many of them sound hollow when you tap them with your knuckles (I suspect a single dab of "whatever" is used, or maybe even none since they seem to move when pushing on them??), no silicone used between tiles and bathtub (only something that looks like a cement (???) that doesn't even make any contact with either surfaces), no level guide line seems to be used as the tiles seem to be "off" completely (noticed this when I demo'd the door, tho the wall is level from all sides, the vertical level line of tiles was off). And for some reason I'm suspecting that the tiles were set directly on the bricks (brick walls here) without considering to use some type of product to prevent the water from the thinset being sucked in directly into that surface (and you know the result of that too). I think ripping out those tiles will be a peace of cake without using heavy materials. I'm only a bit concerned about water damage around the bath tub and underneath it. Shouldn't be that much of a catastrophe, know that the walls are brick walls and the floor is pure concrete. But mold might be an issue tho, specially after 30 years since that crap has been installed. Mold will set in everywhere where water, heat etc is involved, brick walls or not. I'm preparing myself for the worst. ^^

TheOpelkoenjas I would pressure wash and use roof cleaning bleach ,, Stuff they use for roof shampoo or some kind of bleach concentrate.. spray let dry repeat 3x in one day let sit overnight or ten hrs... then build a 1x1 frame against Brick wall throw some Dura Rock cement board tile and cal it a days wrk

did u remove the bathtub to install bthe durock ? please can u explain the process ,I need fix two bathrooms the house I bought and I don't have money to pay plumber ,can I do this job by myself ??? how difficult is ? I need replace the tile and the drywall with durock ,.....i have exactly same problem like u

I need some help! on a fixed income SSI and first the soap dish fell off, then I slipped from the edge and knocked a big gap with my head. I need repair but can't afford much! I live in Marietta. It looks like that last one you showed. I don't care what it looks like, just that it's repaired.
