To Captain Logan: I personally think in the scene where Bruce tells Vicki Vale he doesn't know who Bruce Wayne is, is because Bruce is originally uninterested in meeting Vicki Vale. Bruce Wayne gets interviewed by reporters and girls throwing themselves over him, so when Vicki approached him, lying about his identity was pretty much his way of saying piss off

I listened to this without watching the film and it was still fairly entertaining. The stuff you guys do together is always my favorite stuff on this channel. The two of you have some funny repartee when you're both in the same room. I'd definitely be down for some more movie commentaries. My suggestion for the next one: Sin City.

Its so cool that you respond to comments on even old videos. Filming these would I think make the experience for us better, seeing your guys' expressions are stuff just helps for some reason. the superhero rewind is different since the pictures in the video change.

I can't believe that after so many times Captain Logan has seen this movie, he totally glazed over that during the commercial, Joker said "New and Improved Joker products. With a new secret ingredient, Smilex". Vicki Vale didn't just randomly call it Smilex. Great commentary though, I love this movie, it is my favorite live-action Batman film.

That was intentional. Batman is basically Zorro mixed with Serlock Homes and dressed as a bat. In fact Zorro is now a part of Batman's origin as being the movie that Bruce saw the night his parents died.

Hey Cap, You were talking about the Phantom's eye black disappearing and it made me think, if you look at the end of Batman Returns when Bruce takes off his mask to show Catwoman who he is, right when he starts to take it off his eye black is gone, but in the previous shot it was there.

The difference is that Luke Skywalker was at war. Batman is either a one-man army or a vigilante with a line he won't cross. It's hard to tell which of those Burton had in mind sometimes. If he definitively came out and addressed that Batman kills and that he's okay with that, I'd have less of an issue with it, even if I prefer my Batman not to kill. -CL

When Bruce tells Vicki "I'm not sure," I've come to actually intrepret it from the psychological angle of Bruce Wayne and Batman being two distinct personalities in the same body. What I mean is that up until meeting Vicki, Bruce the man has had a handle on when to fall into the role of Bruce and when to unleash Batman...but when he's caught off guard by Vicki (if we're to believe he's begun to fall in love), he's "not sure" which personality should be dominant in the situation.

In reference to your discussion on the two styles of Batmens, Nolan's Batman we know so much and Burton's Batman we know little, but the thing I like is that we see Batman through Vicki Vale's eyes we learn his origins through her as she tries to find out who he is and I think in away Bruce Wayne is doing the same. The way Burton did this is what I wish he would have done with Wayne in Returns and have him still be a mystery but we learn more of his past or his motives or stuff like that

I hate it when people say that batman killing blindly is okay cause he killed in the golden age, because in actuality he only killed for a bit of 1939 and a couple of issues in 1940. and he only killed as a last resort or throwing people off buildings without intentionally kill but wont cry over it. also bullock is a corrupt cop in the 70's, hell he was made as a bent cop who the mayor sent to get Gordon fired. also this batman just blindly kills people without compassion, i hate this batman cause he really does not seem to care for helping people.

I always thought the whole purpose of Bruce wayne not giving an answer was because he was caught off card and the question 'Can you tell me which one of these guys is Bruce Wayne?' threw him because that is indeed the question. Who is Bruce Wayne? Its like Bruce Wayne is the disguise he wears rather than the Batsuit and, without even knowing it, he reveals something of his true self to Vicky Vale. It adds to the mystery and elusiveness of the character whilst also being some what throwaway.

Pointing to the 1939 comics to justify the killing doesn't work because that was only a small part of Batman's history isn't even used. Other then the killing, 89 takes stuff from the more well known batman comics.
@UnderdogMovies61612 жыл бұрын
You sure you don't have it reversed? Nolan's Batman did a lot more detective work that Burton's did. The only detective work we see Burton's do is looking up info on the Circus Gang on the Bat Computer, and offscreen him cracking the Joker's poison code. (Though as Cap said in his review, we don't even know if he just used the Bat Computer for that).Nolan's did a lot more detective work, while this Batman was more of a reactionary force to attacks.Plus I never found it and RETURNS that intimate.

In the scene, the Joker says "Sometimes I just kill myself." There's a moment where you notice Batman taking heed of this statement before he fires the grapple. I think the intention there is that Batman creates an ultimatium for the Joker. By hooking him to the Gargoyle, he's given him the decision to either let go of the ladder and live...or just go ahead and, in his own words, "Kill myself" by not doing the sensible thing and letting go.
