I love how Burton/Keaton gave Batman such a gothic treatment with the acting, lighting, costume, cinematography and music. Batman is literally like a supernatural entity. Vampiric or even. It feels like a quasi horror film. Gangsters completely in fear of a “Giant BAT!”. I love the whole vibe it gives off. You didn’t get that from the other Batman portrayals.

Lol That's called a back fist that Bruce Lee started in the 1970's. Hollywood caught on to Lee's groin kick followed by a back fist to the head, although to remain PG-ish, Keaton only does the back fist to the head. Anyway Batman 1989 is my favorite Batman movie of all time. Keaton rules !

There was actually a comment in the script that said that scene was very similar to when Batman's parents get murdered. It's clearly done to draw those parallels and it explains why Batman wants to single out these two muggers in particular out of everybody else in Gotham.

Michael Keaton, the very best Batman. Never noticed before, they added the close up of Keaton from the Axis Chemical scene where he is holding Jack Napier's hand, in 3:51. Fits pretty well in here. The key thing is, not to light things, background etc. too much and they did that so well in Batman (1989)

All top producers, casting crew, actors/actresses, etc. just an all-star team. Then fast forward to now. The cast of the new Beetlejuice is just as insane, lol. I'm in love with Jenna Ortega now.
