I remember seeing the first trailer in '89. There were no words for the mystery and excitement watching that trailer, it was so groundbreaking and badass, especially without the music. The movie was amazing and set a huge benchmark for blockbusters, it was mysterious, dark yet exciting and entertaing for all ages. Thanks to Tim Burton for his enormous contribution to the Batman Franchise.

Direct sequel novel On April 11, 2024, it was announced that a new novel would be released which would tie-in to the film. Announced with the title Batman: Resurrection, the novel was to be written by author John Jackson Miller, and would act as a direct sequel to the film. The premise of the novel was to be set in between the events of Batman and its sequel Batman Returns, with Batman focusing on dismantling the remnants of Joker's organization while contemplating on the idea that Joker might not actually be dead. The novel would also include certain characters introduced in the sequel, with one example being Max Shreck.

Don’t get me wrong. I really enjoy this movie but I really wish Tim Burton could have had free reign to make his own Batman movie the way he would have made it. That’s why I prefer the sequel more. Let me say that Brad Dourif would have made an incredible Joker. I encourage everyone to seek out the “Director’s Cut Version” of a film called “Death Machine” and you’ll understand what could have been and why he would have made a Joker like no other.

This comment has aged like rat urine. The initial teaser from 1988 was to convince wary fans that the film was to be dark and serious on account of Keaton's casting. The actual first trailer from early 1989 is phenomenal. Modern trailers can take a page from the trailers of the previous millennium.
