This would have been a good opportunity to have Michael Keaton and Tim Burton come back. Sort of like a retroactive sequel to Batman Returns, or maybe Batman Forever, which was pretty successful, ignoring Batman and Robin. They would have to change a few things, like work on the Dick Grayson/ Robin stuff. Maybe they could replace him with Tim Drake and he could be in it to inspire Bruce Wayne to return to the Batman mantle.

WB should wrap up the burton/Schumacher verse by making a 2 hr long animated movie, similar to the DC original movies using the same style. It is a shame that the script never saw the light of day. It's high time WB released the script . I hope they release the Schumacher cut, and its interest makes them move forward with Unchained. I remember reading this script about a year ago and loving it, thus kicking off my addiction of reading these unproduced comic book movie scripts, wondering what could've been with my own fancasts. Great point raised about this potential film having the same issue the Burton and Schumacher ones had: Batman is overshadowed by his antagonists! I also agree that Burton returning for this horror flick would've been sublime but I can't help but think Keaton would come with him and perhaps make things confusing in terms of continuity's sake. The "Bruce coming out of retirement" angle works for him but him interacting with a Robin feels weird on paper. As for fancasting Scarecrow, I really really like Johnny Depp (36 years old in 1999) for the role if he's not too young. You've got yourselves a new subscriber!

Any time there was a Manbat/Francine bit, I audibly went "Awww", which takes a lot of talent to make me do. This really sounds more like an episode of the animated series than a full on movie, though. I could easily see it being the third TAS animated movie or even adapted as a DC direct to video animated feature. I'm not sure what the audience reaction would've been to the movie ending in a barn rather than...um...anywhere else.

If all the villains from the pervious movies cameoed together in one scene that would've been the one of greatest scenes in film history! Nicholson, Pfeiffer, Devito, (maybe) Walken, Jones, Carrey, Thurman, and Schwarzenegger all in one scene together, but money, egos, and scheduling prevented it from happening!
@demetriusdillard2863 Жыл бұрын
Both Schwarzenegger and Carrey's then-salaries were a still-astronomical $20 million per film during the second half of the nineties (Carrey, in particular, had cinched a $20 million paycheck for "The Cable Guy"), and Nicholson would've had a clause added to his contract guaranteeing a percentage of the merchandising deals that were more than likely going to occur in order to coincide with the release of "Batman Triumphant" (similar to his initial contract for Burton's '89 Bat-film); Nicholson had already pocketed between $50 and $60 million for the '89 film. And it's unlikely Tommy Lee Jones would've reprised the role of Harvey "Two-Face" Dent due to his animosity--and utter disdain--towards Carrey during the filming of "Batman Forever," so I would've envisioned Billy Dee Williams portraying the disfigured former district attorney in "Batman Triumphant," albeit for only a few minutes.

There is an alleged script for Batman Unchained floating around the internet, but I doubt its validity seeing that A. Its titled Batman Triumphant and B. It does not not line up with the information we know on that script. E.G. 1. Harley is not a toy maker, she was a jester for Haley's Circus who grew up with Dick. (There's inkling's of an attracton between them). 2. She was not Joker's daughter, she was a girl with a really unhealthy obsession with him. 3. No scene at all with the villains returning. No Two-Face, no Riddler, no Catwoman, no Penguin and no Joker. 4. Batman does not get locked in Arkham Asylum or even has any real arc, movie does not end with him conquering his fear and letting the Bat's swarm him. 5. Scarecrow's backstory......... There isn't one, one dimensional villain. 6. No Batgirl despite confirmation of her return. 7. Dick Grayson was the real main character of the movie seeing as the main story focused on his journey from Robin to Nightwing. Honestly, the script read more like a pretty good fanfiction, but several people pass it around as real. There is an audio drama version of it on KZbin though if you wanna check it out.

51:31 sponsor is over. Don’t know what the younger Millennial crack was at 9:29, but Millennials know Nicolas Cage did serious stuff back in the 90s. Yeah, he did some films in the 90s where he was over the top, but he won an Academy Award in 1996 for Leaving Las Vegas and had more dramatic roles up to that point. The 2000s is when he really amped up the over the top nature of his acting when taking on other films. I can see why Nicolas Cage was looked at to be Scarecrow at this time. Whether he would have been good is another thing, but I don’t think it’s hard to imagine him being in discussion for the role. Makes me wonder what this film would have been like had Schumacher been able to make the fifth Batman film even with Batman & Robin’s failure. Maybe it would have been good. Maybe it would have been bloated and bad. We’ll never know, at least not until the script ever gets leaked at some point so we can actually see what was in it rather than going off of interviews of what people involved in it said before it was canned. Though if Batman & Robin didn’t bomb, we may not have gotten Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, so perhaps things went the best way in the end. Who knows. This is one of those what ifs that we can talk about, but never know. This other script of Batman: DarKnight sounds like it could have been good, but again we’ll never know if it would have been executed well.

It's a low down dirty crying shame neither "Batman Triumphant" nor (especially) "Batman: DarKnight" was greenlit by the bigwigs at Warner Bros. during the late nineties presumably due to both the critical and public thrashing of "Batman & Robin" that occurred nationwide throughout the summer of '97. I would've loved for Burton in particular to have made his triumphant return to the then-sputtering Batman film franchise to direct the aborted "Batman: DarKnight." (I seriously doubt Burton would've have enticed Keaton to reprise his most famous role for "Batman: DarKnight," though.) It's equally unfortunate Schumacher never had the opportunity to atone for the global backlash "Batman & Robin" had generated. May he continue to rest comfortably in peace...he is still missed. As for fancasting both films, I would've suggested Steve Buscemi for eccentric Gotham University professor Jonathan "Scarecrow" Crane, and Christina Applegate as Harley Quinn. I would've cast Chris Sarandon ("The Princess Bride") as conflicted doctor Kirk "Man-Bat" Langstrom and his real-life wife, Joanna Gleason (daughter of "Let's Make A Deal's" original emcee, the late Monty Hall), as Langstrom's long-suffering physician wife Francine. "Saturday Night Live" alum Martin "Ed Grimley" Short would've definitely been perfect as Jervis "The Mad Hatter" Tetch in the sixth installment, and I could've envisioned Pacino as the Golden Age incarnation of Clayface (a.k.a. Basil Karlo) and Terry Crews ("Everybody Hates Chris") as Killer Croc in part seven. In any case, Clooney and O'Donnell would've both redeemed themselves in the eyes of both critics and die-hard Batfans while delivering compelling, intense performances in all of those unmade films. The less said about Alicia "Batgirl" Silverstone's absence in the franchise, the better. And it's highly likely Pat Hingle and Michael Gough both would've ended up reprising their roles as (respectively) veteran Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon and sardonic Wayne Manor butler Alfred Pennyworth, despite their advancing ages. All in all, this was a highly interesting (and entertaining) video. Thanks for sharing.

I don’t think Harley Quinn could have worked in this universe at all after all the joker is dead and her let just isn’t the same without him at all

You know what, people are too obsessed with arcs. McFly and Doc Brown do not have an arc in first BTTF and I don't see anyone complaining about it. Not every character has to have an arc. Batman does not have an arc in Returns, because that movie is about people who unable to change. You know, like in real life. And not every Batman movie should be about Batman too. I agree with Kevin Smith who said about Begins: here's a Batman movie about Batman and Batman is boring.
