I just replayed the arkham asylum game and now going for Arkham city again, neither game needs a remake, the graphics, art, combat , content, voice acting, everything holds up to this day and you can play them in 20 years, still goated

The only way this game could be better than the original is a few things 1. An expanded and larger island with less loading screens 2. Alternative costumes that can be worn during the story 3. Improved gameplay elements overall like better gliding and combat etc 4. Potential side missions featuring characters that were considered originally for the first game during development like mad hatter Serious potential here so I hope they don’t fuck it up

But there’s nothing realistic about flying 20 feet across the street landing a punch square between someone’s eyes and then getting back up a second later In fact there’s nothing realistic about taking on 50 thugs at once either… which is all rocksteady could do to make free flow more challenging was increase the number of enemies to ridiculous degree to overwhelm the player because the combat system itself with a more realistic number of attackers was piss easy

Honestly, it would be nice to have the newer games gliding mechanics and suit cosmetics incorporated into an Asylum remake but i feel that because of how close quarters and dungeon crawling the original is, there isn't really room for this advanced movement unless you're outside which is going to make traversal too quick. Maybe they could finally make a DLC for the TwoFace hiest mentioned at the end of Asylum and have that added in as an Arkham Episode type DLC for Asylum maybe ones with different characters too but other than that i don't see what they could do to remake this game that wouldn't take away from its personality

@ There was this cool concept that got cut from the original, which would be cool to see in a potential remake. It was this huge hedge mage section, that was supposed to have Ivy and Mad Hatter team up to try and stop Batman. This is why you can find the mad hatter tea party Easter egg in the gardens, as that was probably the only remaining asset from the early development life of the hedge maze. Honestly I wish they went with this, since it’d probably be even trippier than the fear toxin sections.

I'd rather they leave as it is with slight tweaks. Change the titan joker bossfight into the concept art version. Add the behaviourly modified inmates with melee weapons. Bigger doesn't always mean better. I guess they can go more into the island being as messed up as it is.

@@baki484 I agree, but I mainly proposed the bigger option due to the fact that it’d give the opportunity to flesh out some of the genuinely cool concepts that didn’t make it into the game, like the missing patient side quests where Batman would have to solve mysteries across the island. Not to mention the fact that giving the map more space could make the asylum look more believable for housing so many staff and inmates. But more importantly, a lot of the features added to improve the gameplay wouldn’t gel well with the regular map layout, which would probably create an MGS twin snakes situation, where the new gameplay completely clashes with older map layouts that were constructed based on different gameplay limitation.

Aside from some tricky platforms and bosses not being so great, everything about Asylum still holds up remarkably well and those issues I mentioned are so minor that doesn't completely ruined the game. So no. The game doesn't need an remake. Neither does City; which is my favorite of the series.

Most people here are hating on this. Asylum still holds up, they say. Rocksteady are crap now, they say. But if this remake does for Asylum what the remake did for Dead Space, I'm all for it. Remakes aren't always just cheap cashgrabs. A true remake from the ground-up can really elevate a project. Yes the OG Dead Space holds up too, it only released the year before Asylum, and yet narratively and technically the remake surpasses the original. I'd love to see the Asylum story revised and expanded, with small additions that retroactively play toward the sequels. Asylum never featured the side quest model of the later games, and characters relegated to cameos or references (notably Prometheus, but many others too like Calendar Man) could get new content, make new appearances in the Asylum. Not everyone was in on Joker's plan, yet it looked like every non-plot inmate escaped (other than Ra's body in the morgue, I guess).

They’ll do anything but remaster Origins. Asylum has aged very well, and its stylization and atmosphere are perfect. Gameplay wise, it’s fine. A bit more simple, but it works for the smaller, more contained game. It’s not like it’s a PS1 game with tank controls. Origins is still stuck on 7th generation consoles. Please free it. A port at least.

An stupid decision imo. Arkham Asylum doesn't need a remake. It's gameplay elements and story are already top notch especially the graphics in return to arkham. Going from metropolis map size back to asylum is a huge downgrade. This to me seems like they wanna get money without putting effort into something.

They chose the easiest game to remake it would of took them longer to make arkham city due to how much they would need to update the look of arkham city for next gen consoles plus wb's are really desperate for revenue at this point and want the easiest and fatest thing to make any kind of cash

Iv still got my copy of return to arkham which is remastered, includes all dlc and without any woke additions or cencored content. If they do remake them, you know they'll change the story, and character outfits to fit a more "moden audience " . Nah thats a hard pass for me

What's the point? Most fans played AA for like 10 times. We know the every story beat. This isn't like ps1 mafia or FF7 or resident evil where it was pixaleted graphics. Why waste time making the same game? There's no Conroy - no Mark Hamill.. just start a new Batman game universe ..

My issue is that the old crew will not be returning which worries me a lot. A remake could work if they consider putting arkham knight combat and side missions and more islands and bla bla.....more villains....it could work but still...the og is og....the remaster sucks thoe

Several big problems with this Kevin conroy is no longer with us They could get tara to redub all of Arleens harley quinn lines but that would seem disrespectful to the now deceased actress 3rd no one and i mean no one is going to want to touch anything modern rocksteady makes because of the dumpster fire they made with SSKTJL 4th mark hamill said hes no longer voicing joker without kevin So they're going to have to have someone replace both mark and kevin as batman and joker And i dont see roger craig smith and troy baker not wanting to touch this

If you guys do a tiny bit of research you'll know that asylum isnt being remade, its a waste of time to remake it because then they'd have to remake the other ones and its just not worth it, there was never a remake discussed for this game
