While I like the idea of your Mad Hatter rewrite, the story in Knight shows that Teche has went further off the deep-end, kidnapping *anyone* to force them to be his Alice. He wants Batman to be his Alice, that's how far down the rabbit hole he's went.
@GameDenColor Жыл бұрын
Good call out, yep that's true I just don't really think it works. The thing that's terrifying about Mad Hatter to me is his abuse of innocent women who fit his strange urges. Substituting that for Batman felt like an uninteresting subversion and his plan felt a bit too simple and out of character in my opinion
@abc.6223 Жыл бұрын
@@GameDenColor The problem is the simplicity of the plan, not the fact he's begun to see Batman as Alice. What they needed to do was prove Jervis understood he has to up the ante and really do something severe to try to break Batman's will. Because it's also not true that he has wanted an Alice in every instance, he didn't in Arkham City, he wanted help from Batman to beat Strange. But he has always wanted to control Batman from the start, and it makes sense he would become fixated on this guy who seems to have impossible amounts of will power. There's also the fact they know Bruce's identity, and it causes him to respond to them with something like sympathy. If I remember correctly he says something after he's beaten like " Can you justify what you've done to the boy who watched his parents die " And his fixation on Bruce's youth reflects his earliest mentions of thinking of childhood as important. This attempt to Alice-ify him was likely caused by sudden relatability to him, which is why he now cares to prove that they're so similar. " You're just like me." Jervis, in other canons, has treated batman with misguided sympathy in the past. This is the thing, I appreciated the decision to focus on Jervis' opinion of Batman for this very last instance of him because it highlights that there is more to him than "that guy whose creepy about blonde women." I just wish they would have made it more engaging.

I would make a change to your Riddler story. I like the idea that he isn't part of the plan because, as you said, why would he be? However, my change would be that he's PISSED about it and because of that, he decides to actually help you in his own odd way. This alludes to a few things, particularly that Riddler has crossed the line between villain and hero before in the comics, during his Detective Riddler phase, as well as the fact I don't think his ego would allow him to accept that these other villains don't care about him. So, what I'd do is have Riddler kidnap Selina to attract Batman's attention, but this time, he's not challenging Bruce but "helping" him. Ed explains that he has hidden caches of information on the other villains all around Gotham to help Bruce but, being the Riddler, he can't make it *easy* for the Dark Knight and has come up with various challenges for Batman to earn the information. Then, rather than normal Riddler trophies, it's more like the blackmail files from Origins which I thought was a more fun idea. We can even have them for villains that don't feature in the series or were in previous games but not this one to see what's been happening with them in the background. After you've collected them all, Ed congratulates you but notes that he can't let Selina free, believing that she had been working with the other villains and that he wanted revenge. You go back and rescue Selina, then take Ed in. We can put the mech fight here if we want but... I wasn't really a fan. After he's defeated, Ed genuinely believes that Selina was part of the plot but she reveals that she was actually a double agent spying on them. Realising that not only was he beaten, but he was even outsmarted by Catwoman of all people, causes Ed to give in, finally admitting that he was never a match for Batman before adding that he just needed more time to truly outsmart him. Anyway, the point of all this is to give us something different to work with without taking away what makes the Riddler the Riddler while also providing some level of redemption for him and the implication that he may turn over a new leaf in the future. Riddler never felt as bad as the others in this series, so I don't think the idea of him maybe switching sides in the future would be a bad ending to his story.
@GameDenColor Жыл бұрын
I really love this idea, great concept to flip things on it's head and it does fit with the Riddler's character. Being a pain in the ass but helpful. I'm not so sure about his redemption arc, he is pretty evil in this series, in Arkham City with the bombs for example, but this is definitely a fun and inspired way to take the character
@nrnrn999 Жыл бұрын
@@GameDenColor Maybe full blown 'redemption' is a bit much, but I guess it's more that it feels like his worst actions are generally a direct result of his obsession with outsmarting Batman, rather than genuine malice. Like, in the example of the bombs, he only plants them specifically as bait for Batman. I'd even go as far to say that, on some level, he *knew* Batman would be able to solve it so he never truly believed the victims were in any real danger. If we go back to Origins where Ed first comes onto the scene as 'Enigma,' we get a view of him before his batman obsession. He's still an egotistical dick who can't handle the idea that anyone is smarter than him, but his crimes amount mostly to gathering information for extortion and blackmail against corrupt individuals. In his dialogue, it seems like he genuinely sees himself as a heroic character in that game, striking out against the corrupt elite while making himself some money at the same time, but it's only when Batman 'beats' him that he becomes more deranged and obsessed with beating Batman, going to greater and greater lengths to both motivate and, hopefully, defeat Bruce.
@zachnanite947 Жыл бұрын
I had an interesting thing to raise the stakes during the Man Bat mission. If they're predator based, have it so that Man Bat may occasionally crash through one of the windows trying to get the chemicals but is scared away by the gun fire. However, once you take someone out and leave them in the open, there's nothing stopping him from flying in and taking the guy away. Now you have to take out all the militia guards, but you have to be much more mindful of where/how you take them out since Man Bat can swoop in afterward. Leave a guy hanging from a gargoyle? Use a Sonic Batarang to attract someone and then blow it up at their feet? Normal silent takedown on an open elevated walkway? That'll attract Man Bat!!

I have a different Idea for the Azrael vs Bane mission. Here it is: So for the Azrael Mission against Bane have it be different from any missions we have had before. Bane is as smart as Batman so I think it would be awesome to make it appear stealth segment by setting up the entire encounter as a stealth mission. But since Bane knows what Batman would do whenever Azrael try's to prove he is as good as Batman by mimicking Batman, Bane manages stops him before he attacks or counters easily (Like the Mr. Freeze segment in City but he already knows all the moves). So the first few basic stealth attacks would work because Bane isn't sure what to expect from Azrael. But Bane would notice after the first few stealth attacks that you are trying to mimic Batman so he ready's himself for that. So even though it would appear as a stealth mission Azrael would have to do unorthodox things to defeat Bane. Like dropping down in front of Bane, letting him charge and at the last moment flipping over him and cutting one of his venom tubes with your sword. He could set up charges on a gargoyle so when Bane is underneath it he detonates the charges and drops the gargoyle on Bane. Maybe even just charging Bane head on. Just the most random attacks. Then at the end you get to choose whether you will or will not kill Bane (this would be the programing kicking in because the programing made Azrael want to clean up Gotham clearly with force). If you choose to not kill Bane then you can show Bane being left for the GCPD. If you decide to kill Bane then Batman would drop in and stop Azrael before he can kill him, Batman would then bring in Azrael and Bane. This would mean that Batman followed Azrael and was watching just incase something went wrong and decided to let Azrael choose. This is just a cool idea for a unorthodox mission that would stand out from the rest of the Arkham series.

About Azrael... 4:04 As much as I absolutely adore the idea of confronting Calendar Man, he swore off the main holidays as shown in the riddle reward. Halloween was going to be an exception until, y'know... Could still work, though! 4:17 Again, would love to see this one. But the Evidence Lockup says that nobody knows just where Anarky is. Guess the government doesn't like anarchists. Or maybe even the Court of Owls got him? 4:28 Bane's got a few different deconfirmations. In the evidence room, a canister of Titan and a Krank Co. Teddy Bear are locked up and interacting with them says Bane's off somewhere to get clean. A ridde reward confirms this: he's in Santa Prisca slaughtering drug lords. Canon be damned though, this theoretical rewrite of Azrael's questline would easily be one of (if not) the best in the game.

I actually liked the escalation in Riddler's antics. I liked his challenges and the Batmobile challenge courses. He is doing what he’s always done, trying to challenge Batman on an intellectual level, he doesn’t care about the wider narrative, he just wants to win, and he has cranked up his schemes to do so. And it’s a fair escalation, in the previous game he kidnapped random hostages to raise the stakes, now he’s kidnapped someone Batman is close to. But, having said that, I am so sick of collectibles in games like this, and I hate the Riddler Trophies. With the best will in the world I am never going to find every single trophy, I just don’t have the patience for that, and it sucks so much that the finale of Riddler's quest line cannot be unlocked without them. I was so hyped when he burst into the room in a giant Mech suit, I was looking forward to finally having a proper fight with him, only for him to disappear through the floor with a "come back when you have collected all the trophies." I cannot state enough how upset I was.

One of the main problems with this otherwise fantastic game is the lack of randomization - when you've played it a few times, you know the locations of all of the things you have to look for (the fireman, Pigg's dead bodies, etc) and you know all of the locations of the militia's setups, and what you will encounter when you get there (how many men will be there, how many brutes will there be there, what weapons they will have, will they have any ninjas or medics, etc), and so on. I wish there was a lot more randomization in th egame.

I love your idea for the Azrael ‘Test’ Missions, honestly I could easily see them being a larger part of the game and having their own feature like the AR and SoI missions have. I think it would also be really interesting to have Batman send Azrael to inspect the bodies for Pyg’s mission or do some sort of crime reconstruction or forensic analysis to solve a crime, that way he can also prove his deductive and analytical skills to Batman so he can also be trained to be a detective, like Robin and Nightwing are. I think the fight with Bane would be cool to have Batman intervene with as well, but I imagine Bane would definitely be more like his Asylum/City-self where he’s just this big dumb hulking piece of muscle (due to the TN-1’s effect on his brain from Origins), but I still think the fight could work really well. I love your idea of him and Anarky teaming up to target Gotham’s government too, and also the reemergence of Zsasz and Calendar Man, they could also make some excellent options for Azrael to show off his detective skills!
@philipsalama80839 ай бұрын
One thing I'd add to the Azrael mission is to add in some of Bane's lore from the existing game. Batman and Azrael would both be surprised to find that Bane isn't using Venom or Titan - which allows Bane's intelligence to recover. Likewise, they find out that Bane is stealing money - which has never been his motivation before. Most shocking of all, though, is that he hasn't killed a single person all night. As the sidequest goes on, Azrael and Batman realise that Bane isn't in Gotham to fight Batman - he's there to gain funds to fight his crusade against the drug lords who've taken over Santa Prisca. Over the course of the quest, Azrael, despite agreeing not to kill, will have arguments with Batman where he expresses that it's simply not possible for villains to change and be rehabilitated. Bane is the counterexample - he's changed his ways and become a better man, motivated by a desire to help people instead of his own pride, even if he's not *quite* there yet. The end of the quest gives Azrael the choice to try and kill Bane, or to take him alive and accept Batman's philosophy.

I love that someone out there recognizes just how lacking some of these missions were. I've gotten into more debates just by saying, "Wow, I was seriously underwhelmed by Azrael, Hush, Manbat, and Deathstroke." (Especially Hush. That mission straight-up pissed me off.) I think it just comes down to one of those things that when you reach a certain age of mental development, you start to recognize that writing in professional entertainment actually leaves a lot to desired, and when you hit that point one of two things happens: either you recognize that YOU could write a better, or at least more fulfilling, story than the people who actually got paid to do it (which leaves you kind of empty, so you feel the need to at least suggest what might've been done to improve on the issues), or you humbly recognize that writing is actually hard, especially when you're under the gun to get a project out by a deadline (and it's already been pushed back several times as it is). I'd love to say I fall into the second category, but my debates with people online tell me that I'm actually kind of bitter that the franchise ended the way it did. I do have my own thoughts on your ideas, though. :P If I may: - Rā's al Ghūl: The one place where I'll give this batch of Rocksteady devs credit is that the choice involved in Ra's arc is meant to put Batman's No Killing rule under the microscope. And there's really no denying that's what the devs were going for, either, as a) Alfred and Batman hamfistedly debate it a little TOO much of the course of this arc, and b) choosing to save Rā's-that is choosing to hold to Batman's chief ethos-is the one that gets someone (in this case, Nyssa) killed, and she's also the one that provides a real sense of hope moving forward. I wouldn't want that to fundamentally change, as your rewrite would require. I'm not sure WHAT I'd do in the same rewriting boat, but I'd definitely want to keep that central theme to it. - Hatter: Rewriting Mad Hatter's arc at all kinda had me on edge a bit, as I think that (at least, in concept, if not in execution) there's a fundamentally sound idea there. I disagree that Hatter's plan is out of character, as the entire point of getting Batman to rescue three cops was that his method for getting inside Batman's head had something to do with the police sirens (which isn't an unusual idea in and of itself, as several pieces of fiction have been written about the hypnotic quality of red and blue lights, including an episode of Fringe that I frankly think did it a lot better than Arkham Knight), and the "Alice" involved in his mission was clearly meant to be Batman himself this time. The problem with this series' depiction of Mad Hatter (my favorite Batman villain not named Riddler or Scarecrow, and ALL of my favorite BTAS episodes turned out to be Mad Hatter episodes in the end) is that it's never really explained what Tetch wants from an Alice, and even the extra details you uncover by solving riddles in the last three games don't really provide much insight. I think they really NEEDED to explore Tetch's primary motivation in at least ONE of these entries. (I was really hoping than an Arkham Origins 2 would've delved further into it, but it's been almost ten years now, so...). But I think for the most part, what you did with it works. I'd just keep the sirens being part of the mind control method instead of a clock hand-shaped syringe. - Mr. Freeze: While I agree Fries' send-off was by and large not in need of a great overhaul, my biggest issue with his arc here is the same one that I have with most of the villains' arcs in this game...it's just that Freeze's makes it the most blatantly obvious: how senselessly chopped up into tiny, individual chapters they are. Freeze, Croc, Firefly, and Azrael all FEEL haphazardly slapdashed together with arbitrary chapter markers, and Freeze in particular feels like you're speedrunning the game when you play it. I liked Freeze's send-off, but it definitely felt tacked on to me, even by the standards of DLC of the time. - Azrael: I really like your ideas for Azrael, but with the exception of Zsasz, I would personally have been happier if they took the opportunity to use villains that just haven't had the chance to interact with in these games: The Ventriloquist, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Great White Shark, or ESPECIALLY someone like Prometheus. I was SO pumped for the Season of Infamy DLC when Prometheus was rumored to have been one of the villains included, but we never got him. Making him the final boss of a subplot where Azrael is trying to prove himself to Batman could work really well, imo. - Man-bat: This seems to be one place where you and I disagree. You call his involvement in the game iconic, and I think he's the laziest part of the game not involving Hush. You don't even actively fight the character. It's three instances of gliding into him and one of examining his lab. I don't see the appeal except for the jump scares, which can be there regardless of what else you do with the mission. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If I had the power to ONLY change three things this game did with villains, Man-bat would be a top priority. - Firefly and the Firefighters: I really don't know what Rocksteady was thinking. Like with Deathstroke, this is another example of WB Montreal doing a MUCH more compelling job than Rocksteady. I like your approach, but just about anything would've been better than what we got with the firefighters. I never got the impression that Lynns was paying off criminals to keep them hostage or anything like that. I just thought that they'd been turned loose in Gotham on a really bad night and they all happened to run into trouble. Which is, I think, far more likely given that the only people on the streets that Halloween were lunatics and hardened criminals with guns and an attitude. Not that it matters. It's a weird inclusion for a game that had any number of underused actual Batman villains that they could've used instead of a corrupt fire chief. Just about _anyone_ works better, but I like how you tie them together more definitively and in a deeper way. - Riddler: I'm a bit unusual in that I love the Riddler in these games, and adore collecting the trophies in the previous entries. What people somehow seem to miss about the Riddler trophies in City (and, to a slightly lesser extent, Origins) where they were at their best, is that the City trophies didn't just require you to solve a brief puzzle, but to master every bit of what Batman can do, from how he uses his gadgets, to mastering his ability to glide with a modicum of control, to the physical Riddler challenges that forced you to fight in certain ways. It's one of the very few games that I think did collectibles right (especially since every trophy you collect adds to your EXP, and thus to your ability to unlock new skills as soon as possible) and every single time I play these games, I make an effort to find them all without ever opening my map. Just do it out of memory. Because it's fun. But in Knight, he just throws them out there. Some of them are literally just sitting there out in the open with no effort to pick them up required at all. It felt like the actual devs were fatigued with it, and if the devs are fatigued with building things for the Riddler, you know that's going to impress on players, too. All these new skills for Batman in Knight, but you're almost never required to do any of it, except a couple of cases where actions will unlock AR challenges. I ABSOLUTELY disagree that he's the same from Origins to Knight, though. Especially in Origins, and he's the primary reason I was always hoping for an Origins 2. He was always cocky because of his intellect, but when he began in Origins, he was trying to use his intellect to stop crime (using crime). I can see him, as a member of the GCPD, thinking he could do better than Batman, functionally speaking, an antihero. I wanted to see his full conversion into the Riddler in an Origins 2, because Nashton's arc in Origins is one of the absolute best parts of an already really good game. There was a real opportunity moving forward from Origins to depict a believable unwinding of Nashton's mind, and it kills me that we likely won't see that in my lifetime. That said, yeah, his involvement in Knight leaves a lot to be desired, though he did get the best use out of the BatTank, and I imagine after four games, a lot of players probably found it cathartic to be able to physically beat the tar out the guy. [Edited for Grammar, Syntax, and Additional Thoughts]6

- Hush: I'll have to watch your other video to interact with whatever you suggested, but anything would've been better than what we got. The Identity Thief side missions in City went through a LOT of trouble to set up Elliott as a major threat, and is one of only a couple of villains that aren't actually captured by Batman in that game. It also happened to be my personal introduction to the character, and is the only reason I ever became interested in starting to collect DC comics. It was a straight-up tease of what was to come, and the rumor has long been that Paul Dini's idea for an Arkham City sequel would've made Hush the primary co-antagonist. Like with the setup for Azrael, it was meant to build hype and intrigue for an inevitable sequel, but then they dropped the ball HARD when time came to actually do it. My instant instinct after playing this one mission was, "Did the devs forget that whole thread and then rush to add something at the last minute?!" If I had the power to go back and change only one of these side missions, Hush would top that list. - Deathstroke: _"...unable to cope with the fact that he is continuously losing over and over again to someone _*_better_*_ than him." This is just a personal preference of mine, but it applies to both Riddler (intellectually) and Deathstroke (physically): I think it's far more compelling when these characters are presented as being either equal to, or by my own preference, __*_legitimately_* better than Batman. Solving Riddler's riddles and taking on Deathstroke in a fight are all well and good, but it's so much better when you have every reason to think that Batman could actually lose, because as formidable as Bruce's mind and body are, having to STILL find a way to rise to the occasion when it really matters, STILL the underdog despite the phenomenal work he's done to develop his skills, makes Batman, the villain, and the rivalry itself all more compelling. It's one reason why the Deathstroke fight in Origins worked so well; it was clearly an even fight that pushed Batman to his limits. It's the primary reason why Bane works as a villain. It shouldn't be a constant case of Batman just doing whatever tasks are immediately in front of him, but rather a suspenseful development where it becomes more and more clear that there's a good chance Bruce might fail. But in the case of Knight, making the final showdown with Wilson just a rehashing of the tank battle with Jason Todd was just criminal, and your approach is certainly better than what we got. That final fight should've been much more involved. I'm not even crazy about just doing the Todd tanks again, but even if you kept the opening to the Deathstroke fight, I think what would've worked far better is if, instead of one-shotting Deathstroke the moment he was physically in front of you as though he were no better than the Electrocutioner, let that mid-air tackle be just the start of the fight. Instead of knocking Slade out, he gets up faster than Batman could get a knock-out blow and a fight that makes what WB Montreal did in Origins look infantile. Instead of rehashing the fight from Origins at any point (or at least, not for very long), imagine if it were closer to the Mr. Freeze battle from City, and you had to use a ton of the new skills Knight added to get damage on him. You could even make it so that at any given time in the fight, only a couple of specific attacks could work, and in every case, the effective moves are the ones that aren't required or much used anywhere else (such as Gadgets While Gliding or the Reverse Batarang). Sorry if this is an overly-loquacious tl:dr, but I just wanted to offer my own thoughts on your approaches. I'd take most of your ideas over what we got, but the real achievement here, I think, is just how effortlessly you demonstrated the issues with Rocksteady's writing in this game. It's still an incredibly fun game, and I go back to replay it once a year at the very least, but it also falls short in so many ways, too. I'll definitely be checking out your other videos on this topic!

I could make this response a lot longer but for now all I’ll say is that the riddler collectibles in Origins are not good. They are not puzzles and they require no thought at all. I didn’t have to look up how to get any of them, where with the other games I had to stop to look up how exactly to get specific trophies.
@Goldnfoxx Жыл бұрын
@@littleoldmanboy I don't recall having to look up any of the answers for the trophies in either City, either, so it's entirely possible that sort of thing affects my perception of them vs yours. And I don't think the data packs in Origins are as good as the ones in City, but at least most of them weren't just sitting there in plain view, unobstructed in any way, the way so many of them were in Knight. But I mean, variety's the spice of life. If you disagree, that's still perfectly valid. I'm just offering my own view on these things.

What I wish for Riddler, and this is not a story change but a gameplay change, is that instead of a FUCKTON of easy riddles and trophies that become tedious over time, he instead had like six riddles in the game but they were all SUPER hard. Like having to look up ciphers and write shit down irl for later parts of each riddle kind of hard, having to actually be a detective and not just solving very basic puns or picking up trophies.

Personally, I really like the setup for the hush mission, but the confrontations length makes it feel really anticlimactic. I think it would be better if after the initial cutscene where hush takes over the tower, he activates the security systems, and Batman has to make his way through a locked down and booby trapped Wayne tower while talking to hush over the intercom. Then, once he reaches Bruce Wayne’s office, the confrontation goes down similarly, except hush has changed into his classic costume (mostly because we barely got to see it in Arkham city) and after batman disarms hush (using a batarang this time) you get to briefly fight him hand to hand as unmasked Batman, with Bruce only half heartedly fighting because he doesn’t want to hurt his old friend, before hush tells him his parents deserved to die for denying him his fortune, causing Batman to slam him into the desk.

I has some ideas for the Deacon Blackfire. I feel it should be more expanded with a new element, Jason Todd. Maybe there could be flashbacks throughout the side mission of the first time Batman confronted the Deacon, who has now returned to Gotham. These flashbacks serve to build Bruce's relationship with Jason. Batman should get more involved in the investigation, working closely with Jack Ryder. As they investigate the first area, Batman realises Deacon Blackfire is involved, and we play through flashbacks adapting the Cult story, in which Batman is drugged by the Deacon and nursed back to health by Jason Todd. I think this would be a good way to not only pay homage to Deacon Blackfire's first story which featured Jason prominently, and expand upon Bruce and Jason's relationship with flashbacks. This also serves the purpose of developing Jack Ryder. Ryder's been there since day one, at this point, it makes sense to develop him into a more well-rounded character.

I think you misunderstand Azrael in the rewrite. Batman is not actually training Azrael to be his protégé but rather he is simply testing to see if he has the ability to be just one of his successors since he needs as many as he can get. He only tests Azrael because he knows that Nightwing and Robin are capable. He only tests Azrael’s combat and stealth because Batman knows that he’s dedicated due to Arkham City and Arkham Knight’s side stories.

I always thought Prometheus would have been a cool villain to add. One of the things that the trailers set up was that the villains would be working together in Knight instead of being at each others throats like in City. Deathstroke ( being the leader of the militia in your rewrite) could have Prometheus lead the attack on the GCPD building (since Prometheus hates cops) . Batman would fight him on the roof top of GCPD along with the militia henchman. Here's how the mechanics of that boss fight could work. Prometheus would have an electric stun baton. Usually the player would be able to flip over this enemy type and hit him from behind. But since Prometheus's skills are on par with Batman he would block those attacks forcing the player to use gadgets like the REC gun to disarm him. Other special combo gadgets like freeze grenades, explosive gel, electric batarangs and the batclaw would help disarm him. After you remove his main weapon Prometheus can be attacked but he will still counter attacks like Deathstroke did in Origins. The best way to deal damage would be with the throw counter and by using the environmental objects on the roof top. This would be the ultimate combat encounter at the climax of the game and would force the player to use every thing they learned

One big change I would make to the Deacon Blackfire quest would be Jack Ryder's role in it. The Creeper has been teased since Arkham Asylum so this would have been the perfect moment for him to finally make an appearance. It would start out the same with Ryder strapped to the altar before Batman shows up. However, instead of begging Batman to save him, Ryder would express disappointment that he didn't get to hear the entire sermon. A confused Blackfire would turn back to Ryder only to get sucker punched by a yellow fist. This leads into Batman and Creeper tag-teaming the cultists before subduing the mad preacher himself. And I think I would make a similar change to the Deadshot quest from City. Maybe give us a version of the stealth takedown we saw in the original version but with the entire city as the arena putting emphasis on Deadshot's ability as a sniper. Basically, you would have to wait in cover until Creeper distracted Deadshot long enough for you to grapple a little closer to him until you finally get close enough to perform a grapple takedown.

Azrael not getting a DLC pack is so dumb imo. There’s so much you could do there story wise and give him some cool gadgets. Like adapting his stuff from comics but with a tech theme. Maybe at the end he reforges a different designed sword to the one he breaks and fights Deathstroke maybe killing him. (An extra idea I had that could work in the base game generally is to have Grant Wilson be Deathstroke. With Slade being imprisoned or retired. Then if Azrael kills him, Slade decides to come back to take vengeance as the ending teaser for the dlc. This can also work as you then have two Sons rebelling against their Fathers, Jason and Grant).

I would do Azræl's mission like this: 1. Batman meets Azræl again. Azræl explains that he wishes to train under Batman rather than replace him to hide his true intentions, and they set up a meeting spot for his first test. 2. Test #1: (Combat) Training Bots (Riddler design). Batman gives him the green light and they set up their next meeting. 3. Test #2: (Combat) Common Thugs. Batman gives him the green light and they set up their next meeting. 4. Test #3: (Stealth) Batman sends Azræl to get Zsasz. Batman gives him the green light and they set up their next meeting. 5. Test #4: (Combat) Militia Soldiers. Batman gives him the green light and they set up their next meeting. 6. Test #5: (Stealth/Combat) Batman sends Azræl to get Anarchy. Batman gives him the green light and they set up their next meeting. 7. Test #6: (Combat) League of Shadows Soldiers. Batman gives him the green light and they set up their next meeting. 8. Test #7: (Combat) Bane, Clayface, Joker, Killer Croc, and Mr. Freeze. Batman commends Azræl for his work, but then he starts getting needy about the cowl and Batman shuts that shit down. 9. Azræl runs off on his own to beat Shiva as an "8th test", and Batman is very impressed. But then he starts getting needy about the cowl (again) and Batman shuts that shit down. 10. Batman evaluates his scores in the clocktower. Alfred tells him about the chip in Azræl's brain, and Batman investigates. Azræl comes in, they argue, and then Azræl (you) makes his choice. Notes: 1. 2. 3.: Number system = steps of the mission. Added 5th combat challenge against 5 of Batman's rouges. Changed enemies in each challange to be harder than the previous. Reintroduced Shiva. No getting hit rule still applies to all challenges except last one (rouges) with the stealth challenges being a no getting caught rule. Instead, there are game achievements for not getting hit during the last test and fighting Shiva.

I think what you’ve done here. Two-Face’s rewrite was probably my favorite, and I liked the more haphazard, sloppy take on the Riddler. The one thing I will disagree with is the Man-Bat: while I acknowledge that his story is disconnected from the main plot, his selling point in Arkham Knight is the melancholy tragedy. I can’t say I have another idea as to how to integrate him, but his general lack of agency should remain present.

A must have. It's basically a necessity at this point. The Catwoman "bossfight." A graphic, 4 hour long, interactive sex scene between Batman and Catwoman in one of the hotel rooms which Selina offers at the end of the the original side mission. You can finally put your "predator" and "combo skills" to the ultimate test in a different way for the first time ever in the franchise. Players can test their mettle against a formidable and worthy opponent. This Catwoman bossfight would be THE ultimate challenge for even the most experienced players of the franchise. This challenge will put the "HARD" in hardcore. Other than that your ideas were ok I guess.

A few notes here: Firstly, I think the timing of detonation decreasing while taking out goons would be too problematic when combined with a multi-gate device. Origins did both but in different types. Firefly had multi gates & they only were activated at the end of the fights so as to ensure all the time was able to be spent decrypting them. Anarky had goons guarding while the timer counted down. But it was a one push destroy the device thing. Both instances, time can already be cut close. Combining them just unnecessarily ups the chance of it bein impossibly difficult to time out right. Seein youre already referencing BTAS, why not pull this card Im bout to: Have Batman look into a new & lethal vigilante whose been passing judgement to Gotham's criminals: the Judge? (On a side note, for those who know who this is, dont spoil it for those who don't but allow them to find out through the episode Judgement Day. On another note: Ever since my first viewing of that amazing episode, Ive always wanted this character to show up more often outside of just the one episode!) Here's a crucial comic related bit to Pyg you missed: Red Hood had a sidekick by the name of Scarlett. Who was at least a partial dollotron before gettin rescued by Todd. That said, instead of makin Black Mask the character Jason goes after in his DLC just to give a nod to how Jason went after him to get to Joker in the DCAU version of Under the Red Hood; itd make more sense for him to try to rehone his crime fighting abilities by solving the mystery of the dollotrons & put the Pyg down prior to gaining a new playable character based sidekick in Scarlett. If you do investigations Jason's way, it could lead to a mix of detective work on the dollotrons to track Pyg down, though hed probably go to Barb for the computer parts as hes gotta soft spot for her. But also, as thugs talk bout it, you could combine what you had in mind bout dollotrons hanging the lucky deceased with a City track down someone to get answers from bout Hush's vics but only after a stealth section ala the Red Hood DLC. And use that to get leads either on where the body was left & or which way it was dragged from. Then at the end, Jason stops full transformation on Scarlett & duel team up with her to end the Dollotrons' living hell & put the Pyg down. Bout the Firefly one, why wouldnt Batman enlist the help of his thuggish ace up his sleeve: Knute Brody? Your solution for Riddler makes trophy collecting a bit easier but doesnt address one of the biggest problems with him in Battank Forever: Overusage of the tank! Literally one of the most voiced complaints bout it is that "You arent the one solving the puzzles, your tank is." And to that end, Id recommend yeeting of any puzzles & all the race tracks. Instead, maybe he has some buildings in which he puts Batman solveable trophies in rigged with the floor chutes that launch out Riddlerbots & one of them has a key to the collar Catwoman is wearing after her capture & so you have to collect keys from the bot's inner mechanisms which either requires combat fights with many or using voice synth to lure them to a takedown spot from a more protected area. And those count as some puzzles & theyre all instead of the tank parts. As far as Blackfire goes, why not have him perform a chemical based cult ceremony before Bats gets there & the timer is how long Bats has to evacuate Ryder to a hospital to get aid before what happens happens. The result of the chemicals bein the creation of the Creeper who either breaks outta Blackfire's trap which causes Blackfire to flee to a hidden base or out of the hospital (all depending on how fast you are); & in either case, Ryder is lookin to takedown Blackfire's operation in a similar way to the BTAS episode except that theres a lack of a love triangle round Harley Quinn. And he eventually teams up with Bats, who had to track him from the chaos he creates, to the hideout; when Bats arrived; in order to take down Blackfire. Ends with Ryder bein sent a patch courtesy of Wayne Industries that keeps the Creeper at bay. Yes I know Im in the minority here when I say Todd as the Knight can work. Not that it works well based on how he was used. But cmon! Its a character trained to be a Robin turn antithesis of Batman with a similar suit but more lethal tactics & gear. If given the proper handling, there wouldnt be a single person whod find him a bad idea for an antagonist.

While I like the idea for the Azrael rewrite, I just wanted to point that it would be a bit of a retcon from the original, as Bane is actually dead (Killed by Jason Todd) by the time of Arkham Knight. Before his death, he was busy trying to kick his Venom addiction, so ultimately there's no reason for him to be in Gotham or to be involved with any of the chaos. Obviously this can be written around by saying he simply relapsed and came back to Gotham thus never encountering Jason and never dying, but yeah, just wanted to get all the info out there! Furthermore, Mad Hatter and Two-Face's sidequests are somewhat misrepresented here. In Hatter's case, he DID have an Alice that he was after, that being Batman. The idea was that Jervis had gone so far off the deep-end by this point, that he'd be willing to take absolutely anybody as his Alice. As for Harvey, his motivation in your rewrite is almost the exact same as the original, as Two-Face is indeed robbing mob-controlled banks in the original game.
@GameDenColor Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the thought out comment! Yeah so in my original rewrite video I stated that I'm going to be ignoring anything that is external to the games. Since this would be the original game, the side comics and whatever would have to fit in this this story and not vice versa. Ya know, in the alternate reality where this is what we got :) In regard to Mad Hatter and Two-Face, I agree with your points. Batman is his Alice, or at least his goal Alice, but I just don't think that works and feels kind of forced and a bit lazy. Two-Face does attack the banks for that purpose in the original, but as far as his motivation goes, paper-thin callback to his origin. I like to think I deepened that and expanded on his character arc
@distheotaku3595 Жыл бұрын
@@GameDenColor Gotta say, ignoring external content is probably one of the best calls you could make, as those comics can get really messy (Especially for the upcoming Suicide Squad game's continuity). Though, hypothetically speaking, if you couldn't use Bane for the Azrael mission for whatever reason, is there any other big villain you might've had in mind?
@GameDenColor Жыл бұрын
Exactly, don't want to touch those at all. And the villain question is tough, I wanted Bane since Azrael really came to the forefront during the Knightfall storyline and they have an interesting shared history. And obviously Bane has his own history in Arkham so fans are familiar with him. I'm no expert on Azrael's publishing run but if I was just choosing people I think it would be fun to see within the game, I'm a sucker for Clayface. Although his character is so different than Bane, the entire side mission would need to be rewritten again :)

I think it would be cool to redo the deathstroke boss fight as a predictor section, it would be a tough preditior section but deathstroke would ambush you in ways that batman normaly does take downs, would show he's been studying batman's tactics from the first 1 and relizes he can't beat him in a 1 on 1 fight

Hey man, I’ve been binging all these videos and think this is honestly great work! Also I have one question out of curiosity. Originally, the Season of Infamy was going to have two more villains, Black Mask and Prometheus, both of which were cut probably because the former would’ve conflicted with Red Hood’s DLC and the latter… IDK. But if they were in the game, how do you think they would’ve played out?
@siphon1211 Жыл бұрын
I think they cut of prometheus because it would be too similar to the The Knight storyline. Prometheus would have been great to have though

With the mad hatter one, maybe have Vicki Vale be his Alice this time. and if you decide to do the mission, after Bruce Wayne is revealed as Batman, maybe mad, hatter could have some extra dialogue stating their previous relationship.

Considering Anarchy is already out of the map, calendar man is supposedly to appear at the end as we see it, and Bane stopped using venom and left to Santa Prisca, it seems unlikely. Hmm, the hatter, he could not be reported if there was not people during the taking of Gotham by criminals. Man-bat just needs to be set after the scarecrow story is over, because the city is going back to normal.

I honestly wish the Order of St. Dumas would have been the main bad guys in this one. The color scheme of the militia fits. That’s where I thought they were going when I saw the trailers

Wasnt the twoface missions already about mob banks? I remember him talking about that when i was playing recently

I would personally trade out Bane in your version for Prometheus, because God, do I absolutely adore Prometheus and hate that we never got to see him. Plus, it's an excuse to have an actual swordfight between them. Even better, make Prometheus a lieutenant under Deathstroke and thus tie it into the larger fight against the militia, and it's after this swordfight that Batman shows up to confront Azrael about his secret mission to kill Batman, allowing Azrael to have the sword in his hands already. And then, instead of breaking the sword, at the end Azrael can escape, with the sword, to pursue the Order. Then for Two-Face, you can tie his story into Azrael's, by saying Anarky was the one who kidnapped these guys for Two-Face. Plus, I like the whole idea that Bane is off fighting criminal cartels right now, the idea that he's turned things around is great. Other than that, 10/10.

So basically the first half of the mad hatter storyline is just the mission where you're tracking that car into the top-left island I forgot the name of it and the second half is a better version of the actual story mission from the original game

Just a quick comment, for the Azrael part, Anarky is dead, killed by Killer Croc can't remember where all the evidence was though. All though good video

One update i would like u to add for Azrael is that he should fight Prometheus

The only problem with azrael not being a candidate for batman is that Dick doesn’t want to be batman and shows no hints of becoming Batman in this universe, Jason is set in his red hood ways, and maybe Tim would become Batman but I’d argue Tim has much more to learn and wouldn’t work as Batman, and if you look at the source material Tim is the weakest of the robins combat wise at least concerning Dick and Jason, so it’s safe to assume Azrael would beat Tim in a fight, I think also considering that Azrael fought just like Batman, it makes sense why he would consider him as an heir to the cowl, I will say it should’ve been more fleshed out but I disagree that it makes no sense to consider him for the role if Bruce was thinking about who could realistically protect the city in his absence

If there was dedicated time to fleshing out the story it would make sense, but in Arkham Knight he's a total rando and it's really strange
@JewishSeaslug7575 Жыл бұрын
@@GameDenColor I can understand that I guess for me I just couldn’t think of any one else to take the mantle, but I agree they definitely should’ve fleshed it out more and it does come off as random

I didnt really like azraels rewrite, Bane is in his home town so that can’t be a possibility unless you change banes arc. And anarchy is presumably dead.

I’ve seen alot of videos talking about the same thing (give and take) a few different points. What I got from all these ideas and the main problem is that BatMan is the only character that you get to play in the open world. Give other the characters the same privilege and the good ideas will rain on what to do .for example Look at catwoman in arkham city .

I belive that azreal can fight zasaz but like others bane anarky and calendar man cant be here as they are out of Gotham and calendar man is in a different situation also zasaz was sighted in the camera bit in finding which car barbara was in and he was scrapped for professor pyg

I totally understand where you're coming from but since this is a rewrite of this game everyone can be here that the writers want to be here. I don't believe there's anything in the previous three games that contradict that, anything within Arkham Knight would be rewritten so that isn't contradicted, and I'm not paying attention to any third-party material since that would be based on the canon established within the games anyway. I hope that clears things up. Also I had no idea about Zsasz in the camera, that's a really cool detail :)
