He represents in my opinion. The salary man or the one who will become a salary man still enjoying his life. The popularity comes from a reminder of a better and simpler time for young men. In japan. A time before they had to worry about punching into work on time and having a deal with s*******Bosses who steal their work and claim they're work for their own. I think that's where the popularity stems from. He represents that even between heaven and Earth. One can find the sense of acceptance in life.

I mean, we should take a look at Negi Springfield. Dude had a harem list of his entire class at the age of 10, technically 9 because they used the Chinese method, which starts at 1 at birth. I'll add that he's the Teacher of that class. Full of teenaged girls. He hadn't even hit puberty and also managed to become a powerful mage, also taking on the power of Magia Erebia, a sort of darkness magic that can absorb magic and be used by the wielder. It essentially made him beyond human, similar to Evangeline, but without the vampirism. He mastered magic before he was even 11, memorized super powerful spells and ways to use them to make himself capable of physical combat with durability. I think him and Tenchi would be an interesting matchup. Especially when you combine it with his (Good Ending) Adult Form. I hate that UQ Holder had to do a swap with the other ending and gave us an especially annoying Main Character with Touta. He just doesn't have Negi's charisma.

Tenchi Muyo is the grandfather of the Harem Genre. There were a few "guy has multiple women after him" plots like Ranma 1/2, but they all portrayed the girls as a distraction from the real love interest. In Tenchi, most of them are fine with the other girls being around, they know they can share. And they do, as the latest installment has him marry all 7 of them.

There still needs a proper contingency, just in case the worst should happen. The fact that multiverses do exist means that there is an equal chance that an evil version of himself could also exist, and thats not even getting into the idea of outside forces interacting with him to cause a negative outcome. After all, all it took for superman to go crazy was the loss of his city, wife, and child all in one fell swoop. And then there is also the possibility that his heroism is taken advantage of. Should he for some reason believe your world is a problem for his, he would undoubtedly do all he could to fix it, including actions of potentially great destruction. Thats the entire point of the contingencies. Theyre for the worst case scenario.

@@GregTheLion Tenchi basically defined the harem genre, and like a lot of genre defining works, it had important elements that the copycats missed. Each girl was designed to have a different kind of appeal so that there would always be someone for the audience to be drawn to. Each girl had a different relationship with Tenchi. And each girl had a relationship with each of the other girls. Tenchi was originally written as a "which girl wins?" sort of thing. Only after the relationships have built up do we have them get to the point of them being a family that would be missing something without any of them there.
