For their powers: they bought them. No one knows from where or who though. Why did the Justice League lose? The reason was that the powers given to Gotham and Gotham Girl slowly kills them in exchange for powers. A man for decades, a superhero for a couple of years and a god for a few hours. Gotham just went god mode. Died shortly after though.

That'll be explained in the monster men arc. Also in the recent storylines filled with Superman clones and other artificial meta human (most in the suicide squad stories) it's not impossible to have such powers.

I think I would have appreciated this story more if DC Universe Rebirth hadn't ended the way it did. With the revelation of the three Jokers, Dr. Manhattan being the puppet master behind the New 52 and seeing Batman holding The Comedian's button, It's kinda underwhelming to pick up the next two books and see Batman landing a plane or fighting a weird molting version of Calendar Man

They'll build up to it. I'm still not a fan of Dr Manhattan being the big bad when you consider all that has come before (and while he may be omnipotent, a Watchmen character being cosmic strong doesn't sit right with me). But give it time.

They are not gonna deal with that for awhile. I mean, when new 52 Justice league started, they went up against darkseid with him saying he was looking for his daughter and would return. And then look how many storylines we had to go through before that happened. It's gonna be awhile. Hints here and there. Build up

He's not even a big bad, not in the traditional sense. Several interviews with Geoff Johns has him mentioning that people has misunderstood Watchmen and what made DC good. More then a few people has made the connection that Dr. Manhattan is a jab at bad/naively cynical writers who can only write dark & tragic superhero stories. So Justice League and superfriends can't go up and just beat Manhattan anymore then Peter & MJ can double team Cazada.

Azmodeus87 at the same time, while I'm all for light and hope in the universe, realistically they shouldn't ignore all the dark and tragedy and shove it all on Batman. Batman may be the most dark and tragic but certainly shouldn't be the only one. That just doesn't seem right or fair. And everytime I hear Geoff Johns talk it feels like he wants to get rid of all darkness and tragedy

Ethan Dickerson No, not really. If he needed to do effort of some sort. Even if it was just endurance and pummeling them it would be epic. But all he did was increase his power through abritrary means at the cost of his life. That is fucking boring for the reader for story purporse and fucking stupid of the character. Superman isn't immortal he can die.

Have you thought about releasing those as podcast episode too? I often walk around my apartment doing some chores while just listening to your video, while seeing the screenshots of the comics is nice, your narration is detailed enough that they are not necessary. Would be nice to listen to them while on a bus etc. they are 15-20 minutes long so they are just right for nice short podcast episodes.

Hey there Comicstorian, I noticed something with your introduction of Gotham and Gotham Girl, you made it sound like they were just two ordinary humans doing a lot of charity work and Batman like training and then suddenly after 6:10 , somehow they can now fly and have Superman like power. I feel like you saying "they changed" did not really explain how they went from humanitarians to being like Superman and the "get any power he wanted" ability. Keep up the good work.

I really enjoy this channel, and because I know that it hurts you guys I don't have ad-blocker active on your videos. That said, I'm not sure you guys are aware of how hard that is to do when you have ads placed randomly in the midst of an epic monologue. I get that multi-ad videos are necessary at times, but would it be possible to put them at say a break in a sentence or pause in the action. The emotion from the plane crash all the way through to the climactic battle with Gotham was both engaging and well managed. I'm looking forward to the Monster Men arc but wanted to ask you guys if you're going to do a vid on All Star Batman? I feel it's a lot better than the original.

Great look into. This made me feel sad towards the end, Gotham and Gotham girl wanted to be heroes because they looked up to batman. Then end up getting manipulated and controlled by Hugo, even their parents get caught in the crossfire. I know its been brought up in many different comics before, but it makes ya wonder if its worth being a hero if it may end in tragedy down the line, again great story.
