Lowkey, this is why I like the Batman we see in the Under the Red Hood movie. He yells at Robin for shattering someone's collarbone. That Batman only uses exactly the level of violence required to complete his task. Too many Batmen these days are all like "I'm not going to kill anyone" and then cause them to have worse quality of life than if they were dead.

Almost like Joker should be taken to court so a jury can decide his guilt and a judge can put him on death row. That’s a failure of the justice system, but that doesn’t necessarily make it any individual’s responsibility to take a life. Just look at the affect it has on soldiers and cops. Also, Batman isn’t oblivious to this dilemma. He struggles with it constantly and it makes for compelling narratives with the proper writers and the Joker gets to make a comeback later on in the story. Batman’s stories would be dull if he just ended his most dangerous foes on the spot. Overall it’s better for the fictional universe and the stories that these characters inhabit not to kill at least a majority of the time with the occasional elseworld tales that tackle the what-ifs.

I’m not a big fan of Batman’s super move in Injustice 2. I don’t mind that it’s over the top lethal since pretty much every character has access to the kryptonian nano pill that makes them almost as durable as Superman, so they’ll be fine. My issue was that it’s just not nearly as cool as the first game’s super move. I mean, in the first game, he’s utilizing gadgets, strategy, martial arts, skills, and the Batmobile. In the sequel, he just ties you to a balloon and let the batwing drag you around.

The only instance where I can’t defend Batman’s tactics is when he’s repeatedly punching someone’s face to the ground. You can actually kill someone by doing that, but I guess in the Injustice universe you have to do whatever’s necessary to survive.

The barrage is probably meant for Superman as he could easily get hit by that and survive and a thug that spends the rest of his life trying to recover from an injury isn't gonna be troubling Gotham. So Batman pretty much gave him a fate worse than death.
