I saw this movie when it was first released in the theater in 1966. I didn't know about the accident with the stuntman, but am glad he survived. It's one of my all time favorite movies and bat movies. I remember watching it again on TV in the 70's on my 13 inch color tv. Thanks again for the inside info.

“And Batman as Adam West” Rick! Love that! Trying to protect Batman’s true identity in your videos! 👍🏻🤣 I had heard of this accident before but never knew the stuntman’s name nor the details of what happened at the hospital. Ricknineg is THE channel for all the details! Thank you for that. Finally, yes in my option, stunt people are overworked and underpaid for all they contribute to a movie. Not even sure if they receive film credits or if anyone notices their credits if they are acknowledged. Hollywood needs to look out for all its people, (and animals) not just the stars. Great video! 😁

“And Batman as Adam West” LOL 😝 It is no wonder he was typecasted during his entire career. However, I read somewhere he did come to terms with it. After all what can you do about it. Sometimes it’s a blessing in disguise.

One of the funniest things I remember about the Batman series to this day is when they used to label every piece of machinery that they used. As you can see in this episode, they had to put a label, designating the television as a closed circuit TV. I think there was one episode where it actually called something the bat something analyzer. Usually following in other episodes, that piece of machinery was never found or seen again. This was especially true of items in the Batcave.

I remember watching this movie as a child. But I have not heard of this unfortunate accident. I specifically remember the scene when Batman was hanging from a rope ladder dangling from a helicopter in the middle of the ocean when a shark decided to bite him in the leg. I love this 60’s Batman not only because it brought back my childhood memories but also the campy portrayal of its characters. It’s funny, adventurous, not serious, and a lot of nostalgia. There are other serialized Batman before Adam West like 40’s or 50’s black & white version with this guy changing into his alter ego in the backseat of his Chevy. But the Adam West one is the most memorable one at least for me.

Another great segment Rick, thank you. I have seen the movie a few times and really liked it. Although Lee Meriwhether was a good Cat woman, she was not Julie Newmar the best Cat woman. I never heard of the injury that took place to Ace, and yes the industry should do a lot more to protect the stunt folks from possible injury or worse, they play a vital part to the shows and movies we see on both the small and big screens.

I've been a Batman fan since the series first came out; I have picture of little me in a Batman shirt in 1966, when I was 4! I read Adam's book in which he talked about this, i think Burt did as well. Burt suffered a number of injuries over the years he was on the series, in fact in a Mr. Freeze episode, he has a bandage wound around his right forearm from an earlier incident. He does his best to hide it from the camera, but is unsuccessful. Because his costume wasn't as protecting as Adam's, he was injured the most.

Julie Newmar was unavailable at the time and had to complete the current contract she had to fulfil. I forget whether she was starring in a movie or she was in a play at a stage theatre. I thought Lee Meriwether was equally as good as the brilliant Julie Newmar and I didn't know the difference back in my childhood. I have the 1966 movie and the complete collection of Batman on DVD. Far better than the indoctrinated Woke crap we see nowadays - Doctor Who should now be scrapped or renamed, Doctor Woke.

John Wayne was a stunt man before hitting it big, and even then, still did many of his own stunts. He walked funny because his back had sustained so many blows (it wasn't an intentional swagger). Stunt work is dangerous, period. IIRC, every phase of a stunt is story boarded to eliminate as many risks as possible. I smirk when I see an old western and the actor is punched, landing on his back, but under him, you see a square, roughly seven feet by ten, jump as he lands (it's prepared pad). I'd rather see this than see a stunt actor, or actor, land on hard clay and then know that they are in real actual pain.

I love the TV series - one of my favorites; this movie just doesn't do it for me. It's kind of a let down. I think they kind of hastened the end of the show a lot quicker by putting this out so quickly and it looks like it's a quick shoot.

Stunt people are hard core. But today, there is CGI, and there really is no need for stunt people, unless the director wants all "live" action on set. As you've seen in many of the superhero movies now, most of the violent scenes are CGI characters. I've seen this movie a few times, and I can say, the only problem I have with it, is CatWoman. No offense to Miss America, Lee Meriweather at all, but I don't think she fit the part.
