That last shot is so iconic, well worth the effort.

Phenomenal artistry and problem solving combine to deliver seamless work. I love the old matte painting composites, there’s something undeniably unrealistic about them, but so, so satisfying on the eye. Whilst Furst’s overall production design from the first is superior, that opening establishing shot of Gotham, snow falling as the Cobblepots walk below, is beautiful. It says so much about the world this film is set in: decaying decadence.

Batman Returns is actually my favorite 90's Batman. I mean, the script has a lot of problems, like the rocket penguins, for example, but the visuals are just perfect and amazing. I also think the first movie it's okay, but I hate that 80's look.

***** And a big difference between the visuals.

+SuperTurboForce The first movie has that art deco look, it looks like a real city. BR is like a blue nightmare from Tim Burton's mind, it's really different. Btw, Burton had a bigger creative control in the second movie.

There is no 80's movie that looks like Batman.

If there's a thing I genuinely dislike of the film is how at the end they blatantly show that Catwoman survived... I wish they kept her fate more ambiguous.

***** The fact Bruce didn't find her body was already a given if you ask me. That shadow Bruce glimpses in the alley was also good because it could either be her or a Red Triangle member escaping.

Why tho, that part always gave me chills..she survived, I can too..sort of speak.

If they didn't win the Academy for Best Visual. Who did during that year?
@dannyr29763 жыл бұрын
@@TopGunnDTLA To be fair Superman: The Movie won an Academy Award for visual effects, and Batman '89 for Art Direction. Batman Returns did indeed lose out on an Oscar to Death Becomes Her, but going up against such a film, it didn't stand a chance.

That year changed my life.... Batman Returns ...Bram Stokers Dracula.... I was in love with my friends elder sister who was a clone of Michelle Pfiffer.... I saw Dracula next to her...shivering with electric eroticity ( no word ) between us...

so if they did make the animals real then that means they were the first film to make life like creatures 1 year before Jurassic Park
