I've been thinking this for a long time now: video game graphics plateau'd in 2015-2016. We've been hitting diminshing returns in terms of fidelity ever since. The last game that made my jaw genuinely drop was Cyberpunk 2077 when Phantom Libery came out, but that's an exception.

@@bartholenMan Red Dead Redemption still drops mine every time I play it. And I’ve played it A LOT. I thinks it’s the same issue as vfx in the movie industry : Less time, more stress, leads to a much lesser work quality. Rockstar and CDPR are one of the few game studios who still take their time (even if cdpr has been rushed and all) meanwhile WB, Ubisoft, EA, and pretty much everyone wants quantity over quality, and that’s a reason why games look so bad these last 5 to 10 years. That’s exactly why marvel movies look bad. Vfx artists don’t have time to produce good work.
