Fun fact: In the comics, Killer Croc actually managed to put up a good fight against Bane, but here, Croc gets his ass handed to him. Also, I find it funny that the writers felt breaking Batman's back was too extreme, but having Bane almost exploding from overdosing on what is essentially steroids is fine.

According to Mitch Brian, when Bruce Timm pitched the episode to him, he said to "play up the Mexican wrestler idea." Running with the idea, Mitch added the idea of having Batman and Bane bouncing off the railing of the ship they fight on to emulate the rope in a wrestling ring.

There were 2 major rebrandings for BTAS: "The Adventures of Batman and Robin", where the Fox execs wanted more Robin episodes to appeal to the youths. The art change happens with "The New Batman Adventures", also known as "The New Batman/Superman Adventures" because by that time Batman moved to KidsWB and they changed the artstyle to match with Superman The Animated Series. They aired both series together as one slot and had episode crossovers between the two.

So apparently the reason behind the rebrand (at least this one with Robin being added) was due to the start of the attitude a lot of the companies would start to get during the late 90's and early 2000's was them wanting to try and get more kid demographic attention. The whole "if we have a show that has a kid character involved, it'll make them feel more like they're involved with the plot." You know, the whole idea of the audience stand-in, "let's have a lead kid character in the show so kids watching feel more involved." So they tried to push Robin to be more involved with episodes and plots. Granted Eric IS right on the whole "new" thing, but that's also because of a change with Robin later on where Tim replaces Dick.

Basically the Adventures of Batman and Robin was, as Eric said, essentially just a rebrand for marketing purposes and to make Robin, an popular character, more prevalent without much else changing. The New Batman Adventures, which is seemingly what Eric is getting this confused with, was the final season of Batman The Animated Series where the animation style was changed drastically to fit in more with Superman The Animated Series and eventually the rest of the DCAU.

I know it's cause Eric doesn't know, but his confident wrongness is both endearing and ever so slightly frustrating. I sure hope whoever is in charge of this watch order makes sure to get them to watch S:TAS before the _actual_ "The New Adventures of Batman." Though he is right that at this point it's just a rebrand, but to incorporate Robin more on orders from the network. That's probably why Robin has that weird fight in the water with that lady, because I imagine they mostly had this episode figured out, but then had to throw in additional Robin action where they could. The rebrand into "The New Batman Adventures" is FAR more extensive.
@douglassnyder9206 Жыл бұрын
I strongly believe that this episode shouldn't have been made due to a number of reasons. One of them is that the character of Bane was recently created in the comics around the time the animated series was airing on TV. I've read that the producers were reluctant to include Bane in the series because they believed that the character was too 'gimmicky.' I've also read that the voice of Bane, Henry Silva (RIP), used a strong Latin American accent for this episode. Then he used his American accent in that one fan-favorite episode in The New Adventures of Batman. Anyway, when it came to this episode, I found it a bit confusing as to why Batman was 'confident' throughout the episode considering that Bane was created to be a physically imposing threat. I thing that Batman just considered him to be an 'easy' opponent. I found Bane's defeat to be questionable. I also criticized the design of Bane's 'boyish' face when he was unmasked in front of Rupert Thorne.
