I disagree. Aaron (not sure how two people spelt his name wrong) Eckhart has always been a pretty overrated actor imo (and yes, I have experience and background knowledge of acting). He is fine, but some actors could've done better with the same role (not to sound like a total normie, but imagine someone like Leo DiCaprio in the role--my god, or even Hugh Jackman). He did fine, he did what was expected of him, but ultimately did nothing to stand out amongst the superior actors in the film; such as Bale, Oldman, or Caine. That doesn't even include Heath, who was never a phenomenal actor in his own right for what it's worth, he just happened to truly find a role that was perfect for him and he knocked it out of the park. Arguably the greatest acting performance of the 21st century, Heath's Joker. As he tends to do in roles, Eckhart just did what was expected, at least from my perspective and from an acting perspective.

@@Narutoanime16g I really don't get when people say this movie is only good because of Heath. He is great of course, but so is Bale,Freeman, Oldman,Caine and plenty of the side characters as well. And I wouldn't say Eckart gets outshined that much in this movie, he's really great in that role, I doubt the movie could have been that improved by switching actor for his role.

@Sam Thomas I'm not sure if I agree with this. I think we romanticise people like Heath because he went out on top. This role was amazing, arguably the greatest performance of the 21st century, but he was never a super broad or skilled actor. Guys like Christian Bale or Gary Oldman were actually better actors, and Heath never really showed any reason why he had the range to be a pantheon type of guy like the ones you mentioned. I think the Joker role was just a perfect role for him and what he was into at the time as a person. He was going through a phase in his life where he needed to get the "weird" out after being typecast as a pretty boy his whole career, and it was lightning in a bottle. Had he lived, would he be one of the best around today? Obviously impossible to say, but chances are, no, he wouldn't, if we are going off the rest of his resume. He was a pretty average-to-good actor (think Chris Hemsworth) who just got an amazing opportunity that he absolutely knocked out of the park. Nothing else he did ever stood out as incredible, which is why this role was such a shock. He really was the Chris Hemsworth of his time in many ways. Imagine if Chris got cast as the joker-that's what it was like back then to hear Heath got the role-nothing short of controversial at the time. I think he would've been a great, well respected A list actor no doubt, but considered one of the modern day greats is likely just romanticizing his skills because he's gone. No disrespect to Heath, I was and still am a huge fan obviously. Just being realistic.
@jeffreid56163 жыл бұрын
@@WinedandDined27 idk bro I respect that u standing by what u know but at the same time idrk if u can call it lightning in a bottle while acknowledging that it’s impossible to say what would’ve happened. Like u said bro was typecasted like shit and didn’t get the shot to really go outside of one archetypal role so how can we really judge his acting abilities when 90% of his roles were pretty boy characters that never had any wild material to work with on that level. As we see here he can obviously act when he’s in an unorthodox role so if we saw him on that type of timing more often I’m sure he would’ve had similarly fire performances. Like u said tho it’s impossible to know but I’m just not sure if it’s fair to say he wasn’t good like that when we really have no way of knowing. I’ve seen some of his other films like that Shakespeare joint where I think he plays petruchio’s stand in on the adaptation. In that movie he gives the role as much life as you can ask for but like u said it’s a pretty boy role and at the end of the day there’s only so much you can do with that. Anyways I ain’t tryna start no argument or nothing on some shit I just found your comment well thought out and organized and figured I’d shoot back so big truss I’m not tryna come at you or nothing G

For sure Heath Ledgers performance was the GOAT, but so many people overlook how good Harvey Dent/Two Faces performance was. That final scene gives me chills every time. Especially that line: “It’s not about what I want, ITS ABOUT WHATS FAIR!”. You can hear his transition into Two Face half way through that sentence. The reason why Harvey targeted Gordon was because all those people who played a part in Rachel's death were Gordon's men. They were hinting it at the beginning that Harvey and Gordon were not on terms with each other because Gordon's people had a bad record at internal affairs and Harvey was the one handling those cases which is why Harvey didn't like the idea that Gordon continued to work with these people. And even then Gordon didn't listen because he argued that if his men were put into court, he wouldn't have anyone left in his office. And all of that led to Rachel's death. So it makes sense that Harvey would go after him.

Everyone who asks "How did the Joker plan ahead that far" misses the point. It's not that he had one plan. It's just that he has several plans going at once and he'd be satisfied with the outcome of any of them. Like his attack on the motorcade. What are the outcomes? 1. He kills Batman and/or Harvey Dent. 2. Batman kills him and breaks his one rule. 3. If he gets caught, he has the mook with an explosive in his stomach and his henchmen waiting to kidnap Dent and Rachel. There's no ultimate victory, just a bunch of plans that lead to their own victory.

Harvey always use he's magic coin (two side the same), so actually he make his own decision all the time, and Rachel realize that later. When Rachel's death happened, the fire burn both Harvey's face and his coin, the magic coin was replaced by a usual coin(charred side and normal side). Since this moment, Harvey start use random probability replace his ponder. So that's why he didn't kill Joker (cause the coin show the lives side). A thoughtful white knight, because reality broke his life creed, gave up self-determination, and turned into a villain who only relied on chance.
@TheGodfather-bm3ow3 жыл бұрын
Like the Joker said ... Harvey was a politician and schemer ... he gave the illusion of chance with his coin , but was always trying to control the situation. The Joker showed him... control is the illusion and instead it is better to accept that and embrace the chaos. Just like chaos... the coin is now fair.

It goes without saying the Joker is a genius. He’s not motivated by money, but he’s fascinated and motivated by Batman because Batman is the one man he can’t get to break and confirm his dialectic on the chaotic nature of man. He sees Batman as the yin to his yang and getting Batman to kill him would be his greatest achievement. Heath Ledger was able to make Joker the complex supervillain he is. He was intelligent, insane and monstrous. “LOOK AT ME!” before he killed that cop. You heard the monster and you didn’t even need to see him. I loved that the only time Joker showed emotional anguish in the film was when someone would infer he was deranged or call him crazy. It was the one insecurity he had, he saw himself as the sane man in a crazy world and wanted others to view him that way. He was a force of nature. In a weird sense his hatred of hypocrisy drove him. What you all said about The Dark Knight resonating with real life is right on and what launched the success of the MCU all the way through Winter Soldier before Disney ruined it. It still boggles my mind how Disney manages to ruin the IPs it gained control over. It’s like it consumes them or intentionally ruins them.

So, in that scene, Joker was making Batman choose who to kill, not who to save. To kill Rachel he'd have to go where Dent was, and to kill Dent he'd have to go where Rachel was. Joker was always gonna win cuz that's the game he set up. He wants Batman to break his one rule no matter what. So that's why he doesn't move an inch when Batman is going 60+ miles an hour towards him. There is no beating him there's only surviving and trying contain the chaos.

Y’all should watch American Psycho. Christian Bale got the role of Bruce Wayne because of that movie. And woo, it’s something.

These guys really need to watch Batman the Animated Series. I would love to see their reaction to both the Joker and Two Face in that.

It was Jim's people who jeopardize Rachel's life and in the start when they first met you can see the reason if you pay attention
