This is the animated version of Frank Miller's groundbreaking 1986 graphic novel Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Frank Miller is also the creator of Sin City and 300, and his graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns is considered one of the most influential and revolutionary comics ever published. Frank Miller's graphic novels Batman: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns were a strong influence on Christopher Nolan and David Goyer's screenplays for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

note: this is different from Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Rises. This is an animated adaptation of Frank Miller's groundbreaking "The Dark Knight Returns" that came out in the 80's. WB is likely releasing it to capitalize off of The Dark Knight Rises.

isn't? they do have a great cast, having Peter Weller as Batman's voice is as smart as casting Mark Hamill to do the Joker's voice for the Batman series, Weller is perfect to play the Batman and more if the story is the 1986 The Dark Knight Returns story, yes i do agree

Peter Weller was a very interesting and logical choice to voice an 50, 60 year old Batman. Also how he was designed it fit his voice perfectly.

Or they're releasing it because they've been adapting notable Batman and Superman stories into animated movies for the past few years, and it was only a matter of time before they got to one of the most influential Batman stories of all time (and it's obviously the logical follow-up to the recent Year One movie).

This is for The Dark Knight Returns, Frank Miller's ground breaking Batman graphic novel from way back in 1986, a good year for ground breaking graphic novels... Such as V for Vendetta, and Watchmen, both by Alan Moore. Take my word for it, those were both fantastic G/Ns... But then, I'm a fanboy, so I guess you gotta take that with an ever so slighly small grain of salt...

Read the description people, its the animated movie based of the comic The Dark Knight Returns, Bruce Wayne as an old man. Nolan stole the Dark Knight name from the comics.

Maybe conroy was not available. But I am still exited for this movie. I have never read the dark knight returns but I have heard a lot of great things on it and this video makes me interested in it. I may pick it up when I get the chance.

Conroy is such a better Batman. I dont get why Romano didnt cast him. I guess he is older in this story line so they need a different voice but Conroy just adds so much more.

Amazing story, i realy like it, great for a movie, there were rumours about Stallone taking the role in a movie for some time, could be the perfect all warrior/Batman. An (spolier) it have a twist face of agains super sups at the end!! could be an amazing movie !!

Much better than the overrated 'Watchmen.' Alan Moore did change the way comics were seen and written, but his work is extremely dated by today's standards(except for 'The Killing Joke'), while Miller's work is still relevant. And after 'Sin City' and '300' you'd think DC and Warner Bros. would have an office for Frank Miller. lol Perhaps 'The Spirit' tainted his reputation.

I really hope both parts are at least 80 minutes long. They cant make a two part movie based off of this comic book and have them be 60-70 minutes each. I could rant for hours about this, but Ill just be short and say they need to make both parts a decent runt time, otherwise I will be pissed.

+Robert Treviño you know, I was really excited for the Killing Joke, and some things worked and some didn't. I was actually very opportunistic about the Batgirl prologue, but it just really slow downed the film, and then there was that... I along with others just don't talk about it, don't even think it. On the other hand, the main story was amazing and Mark Hamill knocked it out of the park.
