Not only was Lee Meriwether gorgeous as Catwoman, but she played Miss Kitka in a way Julie Newmar couldn't have. Her scenes with Adam West as Bruce Wayne are excruciatingly deadpan and are one of the best things about the movie.

GREAT JOB GUY !! You did this classic era Batman proud !! I was born in 1967 , so with the constant rerunning of this show during my 1970's childhood - I literally grew up with this Batman first , then the comic books and later stuff like Saturday morning Superfriends , movies etc. - so this Batman is dear to my heart !! The amount of high quality work you put in on this video really shows !! For a (what looks like by the credits) completely DIY job - VERY IMPRESSIVE !! Thanks again !
@Webshooters14 жыл бұрын
It makes me so happy knowing the series is now available to own. I do and I didn't even grow up with it or see reruns! It was more cultural osmosis if anything but I love the campy feel of the series and how over the top zany it is. It has a place in my own Bat-Collection alongside the movie and the two animated movies they did with "Return Of The Caped Crusaders" which parodied the Frank Miller version of Batman and "Vs Two-Face" which carried on the celeb guest villain tradition with William Shatner as Harvey Dent/Two-Face and the final peice of Bat Media Adam West would voice before his passing.

those two animmated movies were AWFUL. the seccond one even being a total ripoff from The Santa Clause 2

@3dartistguy Жыл бұрын
@@muigokublack6487 they were paroding the tv series whiich was parodiing the comic book. There was nothing original about the storyline. A duplicatng machiine that duplicates corrupt duplicates of Batman? Again, this storyline was ripped off from The Santa Clause 2. They were nothing like the beloved tv serries at al dispite the fct that adam west and burt ward were doing to the voices. They seemed more like an update of filmations 1977 Adventures of batman and Robin. Dozens of pointless changes like Arkham Asylum was never seen in the tv series as well.
@3dartistguy Жыл бұрын
@@muigokublack6487 Once again, the storyline is what i had issues with. It was ripped off from The Santa Claus 2. And these animated adventures seemed more like a update of Filmation's 1977 Adventures of Batman and Robin animated series than the live action Batman tv series. Why does Commissioner Gordon have a moustache? He didn't have one in the tv series at all, he had one in the comic yes, but NOT in the tv series. They made no attempt to cast an actor who could imitate the voice of Neil Hamilton at all. The villains were in Arkham Asylum, not in Gotham State Prison as in the tv series. What they were doing was parodying the tv series which was parodying the comic. They could have done a much better job of capturing the feel of the original tv series, but they failed despite the fact that Adam West and Burt ward were doing the voices. I got rid of both of these dvds as soon as I could.

The original Lincoln Futura of 1956 was designed and made by Ghia as a concept car but never reached production so Barris bought it in 1965 or 1966 to Ford in just $1 and took him $30,000 to shape it into the Batmobile for the 1966 movie, along with batbike, batcopter, batplane and batboat

The more I watch the show on disc, the more I'm impressed by Frank Gorshin. Just a fantastic presence every time, with the delightful maniacal giggle and the great physicality. Mind you, I adore Julie's appearances on "Batman" (especially when Catwoman was disguised as a clumsy dance instructor or an old wealthy spinster, LOL); and of course Burgess and Cesar were terrific-- but I can't imagine the series without Mr. Gorshin. It's so cool that the show finally got a proper video release after so much time passed; I honestly didn't think it would *ever* happen, because of intellectual property problems. I still remember watching reruns each weekday afternoon when I was a kid in Long Island, fifty years ago (yikes!). "Batman" was a fun dose of escapism for a wimpy nerd like me.

A nice look at the show I grew up with. The casting of the show was perfect. Frank Gorshin was the only super-villain who scared me as a kid. He played the role semi-straight, so he always gave me the impression that he wasn't kidding. Julie Newmar was gorgeous, and so was Lee Meriwether and Eartha Kitt, although I liked Julie Newmar best. The other guest stars were great; everyone looked as though they were having fun doing what they did, low salary or not. As for Adam West, he was always sort of wooden, but here, he was perfect. RIP, Bright Knight. You made my childhood fun. "Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb!"

That was actually addressed in one of the episodes. Batman/Bruce Wayne had installed a device which redirected anyone who tired to trace the number of the Bat-phone. In the episode, Commissioner Gordon tried to trace the number (as they thought Batman had turned to a life of crime), and it was rerouted to a rich man who dressed like a bum and, not trusting banks, kept his money in his mattress.
