Jim Steinman's Music is so breathtaking. It has a timeless Quality what only very few other productions have. I wished he would make one more Album with Bonnie Tyler.

If I hear correctly, this is child orphan Catwoman, that was traumatized by seeing Batman's parents getting killed, and shocked at how quickly someone can loose everything.

I love Jim's speech at the beginning; makes me think of this as a rock album instead of a Batman musical. This stuff needs to get released somehow!
@rainymoon98489 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would be nice if they would release a demos album. The woman who sang this song, also recorded other Jim Steinman songs. Songs that were produced by him. There is also the Dream Engine stuff.
@jeffspurlin85446 жыл бұрын
Actually, it sounds like a rock album because the main theme of the song (I need all the love I can get) IS a rock song - "More" by the Sisters of Mercy. Until now I never realized that Steinman wrote that song, and apparently "This Corrosion" as well...
@sebif5464 жыл бұрын
@@jeffspurlin8544 Steinman didn‘t write This Corrosion but he was Producer.

3:05 Strawberry fields forever intro definitely inspired the soft organ in the background, Jim was after all a big fan of The Beatles and they inspired parts of The Dream Engine (which can definitely be seen in Jim's singing of Love Song)

She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies, And all that's best of dark and bright Meets in her aspect and her eyes; Thus mellow'd to that tender light Which Heaven to gaudy day denies --Lord Byron That's Catwoman. :D

Quite a piece. Well balanced between its slow beginning and its increased tempo later on. Certainly worth hearing.

Hey odrilliad1 I really love the Batman musical songs though I just wonder what it would be like if Batman got the musical theatre treatment that Broadway and West End Deserved these songs are just so beautiful then again if I played Batman in a musical it could be something that musical theatre needs the most then again it's definitely something that should be done justice would you agree with that
@odrilliad2 жыл бұрын
Hey, Nicholas! If Jim Steinman had been given the opportunity to finish his Batman Musical, it would've been amazing I'm sure. Unfortunately, now he's gone, I don't think the project will ever be resurrected. But if there were to be a Batman Musical in the future, I think I'd only get excited about it if someone like Danny Elfman or Elliot Goldenthal was behind it.

@@odrilliad Then maybe someone like me will have to step up to the plate and do what Jim Steinman should've done years ago because if I resurrect Batman the musical I will hope to do it justice in future because it's always been a dream of mine to do Batman the musical

Hmmm, I love Steinman's stuff, but I guess that theatre stuff has a different kind of sound or structure that I'm not so enamoured of. I feel the same about Eric Woolfson's stuff after he left Alan Parson's Project and went into theatre. I guess it's just not quite my taste.
@Aqua-Jae10 жыл бұрын
This is pretty by itself but it doesn't remind me of Catwoman. I know the girl is talking about Catwoman's inner turmoil and loveless persona. The woman behind the cat I suppose, but it still isn't good enough for THE Catwoman.

A lot of Broadway songs sound like stream of consciousness thoughts, no particular direction and almost too much exposition. Why is Catwoman re-tracing every single thought that crosses her mind? It's supposed to be emotional but don't you think if Catwoman could sing how she was feeling to a T she wouldn't have these internal struggles? Song is supposed to replace dialogue but dialogue isn't just "This is who I am, this is why I do it"...there's subtext...and pesky metaphor with effort.

There are several musicals that have songs lasting several minutes long. Good examples of this would be Les Misérables and Into The Woods, where at least one of their songs is at least 7-9 minutes long

TheMusicalBoy'93 Les Miz is really an opera, in a way; there's only one line of spoken dialogue in the whole thing. :-)
@TheMusicalBoy938 жыл бұрын
MaskedMan66 Eh. There's very little distinguishing between an opera and a musical. For example, Hair is sung through with very intermittent spoken dialogue, but it's not quite operatic enough
@MaskedMan668 жыл бұрын
TheMusicalBoy'93 "Hair" doesn't require the pipes that most of the songs in "Les Miz" do.
